"Batsy! You're Such a Card"My God its about time I did some fanart of Matsuda-Joker (designed by Jeff Matsuda, fab' artist
) I must admit he is probably my favourite Joker. Yeah, I know, sacrilege! I can’t understand why this Joker got a lot of negative comments (well... those I’ve seen on Youtube) as if its either Hamill-Joker or nothing! Just because something different doesn’t mean its bad. Matsuda’s version is as different from Hamills as Ledger’s is from Jack Nicholson’s. It just proves how great a character the Joker is that he has a few “species” of himself. Besides, you gotta admire a Joker that can almost physically match the Batman and doesn't make lame attempts when in hand-to-hand combat. And that crazy hair-do! Makes mine look neat (and that's really saying something. haha!) Actually, I think it was watching this animated series that got me into Batman in the first place (I don't think the original series was showing on British TV, at least not at an age when I can remember.)
Apart from that, I'm not too sure I'm 100% happy how this ended up looking, but I had real fun doing him (omg, I could have rephrase that better! XD).

this is one of my favorites too! I adore the fact that he can fight just as good as the batman, the monkey fighting is a nice touch since, as you know, monkeys ARE seen as nature's little jokesters.
I loved his straight jacket's look, it reminded me of the Cheshire cat! His 'jester hat'-like hair-do and his humor! The way they played with him being insane but seemed kind of sane just made him much more dangerous cause what's worse: an evil(?) insane man that doesn't know ay better or an evil(?) insane man that can feel or act like a sane man but chooses not to? (or in another example who has more fault the person who shoots without knowing what the gun may do or a man who knows it's power but shoots anyway) And I love how they made the suit so it could be believable that he can do all that running and fighting (has anyone tried running with a suit? it's difficult as fuck!)
people hate how they did his face, but I adore it, they say it is cause he doesn't look like he isn't human and that's the best part! He looks human but at the same time you can see he's a dangerous man bordering nightmare and if you notice, he looks more like a card's joker than anything else and I love it!

He looks like a cross between Gollum and a hippy. He has none of the primal terror enduced by propper Joker. He was badly designed, badly animated and the storylines made no sense (in one he had a gun that turned people into playng cards). Batman the Animated raised the bar for animation and story telling, it was the best screen version of Batman ever. The Batman was the very, very worst in the whole history of Batman since 1939.
As for hand to hand combat, the proper Joker has bested Batman in fist fights a number of times including their first encounter in 1940 and the classic story Joker Five Way Revenge. The Mark Hamill Joker gave as good as he got in fights too.

I think one of the reason why he's so much unappreciated is because BTAS had better stories and better character developpement. Besides, you know people, it's always "in my days everything was better !" -_-

I was a bit iffy about this Joker when I started watching the series. but completely fell in love with him by the end of the first episode! I love the episode when he pretends to be Batman XD

Well, its the only one that really fitted. I almost called it "Burning the Deck" because you suggested "Cutting the Deck". But as Joker keeps using "You're Such a Card" in the series I thought it'd be more apporiate.
