Description *********** Yaya on Facebook [link] ***********
*********** Yaya on Twitter [link]

I'll start off by saying that this photoshoot took place 2 years ago (October 2008) and I did not release these photos until tonight because I wasn't sure if the public would understand what we were going for. Hence the watermark is still my old website lol.

Yes. I am very scantly clad. Yes. I am basically just wearing shreds of fabric and very well glued on jewelry. Yes. I am near exposed. Yes. They are boobs.

The reason I did this photoshoot was not to scandalize (although I'm sure that is a by-product effect), but to pay tribute to the amazing art styles of Heavy Metal [link] and High Fantasy in the 70's and 80's.

Good fantasy (art, book, film etc.) and sensual feminine forms have always gone hand in hand. I absolutely adore the work of Luis Royo [link] and have in the past saluted him with my Battle Angel [link] images [link] This time I wanted to create a theme around the Greek Goddess of War, Enyo [link] Terrible yet beautiful, bloodthirsty yet mesmerizing.

I created the outfit within a week, being inspired by Luis Royo [link] and John Carter's Princess of Mars [link] using light airy fabrics in creme and sage colors. I did a lot of fabric shredding and ripping, wove braids of fabrics and tied random pieces together. I spent way too much money on materials and time on making the headpieces and jewelry accessories. You can see a close-up of the headpieces here: [link]
Brian Boling created the gold collar out of plastic and I decorated it with chains and crystals.

As usual, I did my own makeup and styling.

Weapons were kindly loaned to us by friends.

I shot with my two most trusted photographer friends - Kevin Stewart and Brian Boling. You'll see a difference in their styles of photography as well as the fact that Brian shot digital, and Kevin shot on film. I love different qualities about each and was grateful to have both very talented and creative artists collaborating with me on this shoot.

This shot was by Brian Boling. The next two are Kevin Stewart's work.

If there were any female warriors in old times, im pretty sure they wouldn't look like they bought their armor from Victoria's secret

Oh hun, if you think you can purchase something like this from Victoria's Secret, that would heavily suggest that you've never once set foot in a Victoria's Secret. Also it would heavily suggest that you didn't read the description, which explains the underlying background of the image, which was designed to emulate a popular genre of speculative fiction, that was popular in the 1970's & 1980's, which drew it's influences from the Barsoon series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs originally written in the turn of the last century.

Also for the record Enyo the Greek goddess of war was classically depicted in mythology as not wearing armour, she wore next to nothing, being that she was a goddess, not a soldier. Heck even the classic statues of Bellona, the Roman version of Enyo is depicted as nearly completely nude, all but for a war helm.

"Too long; didn't read- i think i got my point across just fine thanks"

Translation: "Read every word of it, can't figure out how to refute it, I'll just pretend I didn't read it but totally could have refuted it if I wanted to, no one will ever see thru that clever ruse"

Also don't assume I'm dumb just because i chose not to humor your salty little rant there. I'm entitled to not like it and I'm damn sure going to say something about it. Plenty of people are crazy about this, so I'm pretty sure the model and/or costume designer won't feel bad about one negative comment.

"Also don't assume I'm dumb just because i chose not to humor your salty little rant there."

Translation: "Damn it, he's on to me. He knows I read everything he wrote, but couldn't refute it. Maybe if I pretend what he wrote was a rant he'll not notice."

"I'm entitled to not like it"

Translation: "Maybe if I pretend it's an issue of subjective dislike, rather than me simply being wrong about statements I made, he'll not notice that I'm desperately trying to obfuscate that fact."

"Plenty of people are crazy about this, so I'm pretty sure the model and/or costume designer won't feel bad about one negative comment."

Translation: "I know, I'll pretend my statements aren't objectively wrong, by pointing out that other people like this image & since other people like tis image, it's like my incorrect statements were never incorrect at all. I wonder if he's buying it? Hmmm, doesn't look like it, maybe if I write a second comment where I continue to pretend I can address the points he made if I wanted to, but never actually doing so."

Translation: "Hmmmmm, maybe if I double down in to my denial of having read this, he'll believe me this time? Yep, because if someone doesn't believe me the first time I use a poor non-argument clearly they'll believe it the second time I try exactly the same argument, while accidentally admitting that I read it."

I shall first give much praise to the quality of the photographs, costume and props! The poses are also rather nice.

And, here comes the "But". The "But" (surprisingly enough perhaps) is in regards to the title of photographs. The costume/clothes do not make me think of "War". Closer to seduction or beauty. The dagger, in turn, makes me think of "Shadowy" actions (so, something that could go in line with Seduction).

If I were to say what this would make me think of is a "Goddess of Serpents". A deity/being that is in equal parts beautiful and alluring while also deadly and dangerous. It might be a very "bland" and "unoriginal" idea, but at the same time what I see here is not a Goddess of War. The Mace, especially, seems out of place, a spear might had been a more interesting choice.

And while, yes, some people might say that these photograph are inappropriate, I would still say they are far better than what I usually see on the Deviantart frontpage.

Oh no, boobs! What will this do to the children!?

Sarcasm aside, I like the design. We are inundated with costumes designed to be sexy through exposure so it's refreshing to see exposure with more nuance to it's purpose.

Tenten110 In reply to litha-the-black-cat [2018-04-11 20:11:18 +0000 UTC]

Uh no? :'D
First of all - the body of a woman is NOT a sexual object. She is NOT making any sexual poses. Ergo - nothing sexual about this.

These are beautiful. I appreciate the creation notes and explanations from an artist to artist standpoint and the behind-the-scenes perspective.

I feel you on paying too much money for just the right fabrics for you to shred haha and the jewelry and tidbits for what is largely a personal project, but the final product is worth it, no?

I'm sorry that these images need explanation; that they cannot just be taken at face value because unfortunately at face value I fear they would be taken as nothing more than titillation. That you had to wait 2 years to share them, that you have to explain that it was because the public wouldn't understand (and some won't) that you had to use an old watermark and explain that you realize how naked you are when you aren't by 'the internet's standards' where a woman can't show her nipples but a man can and even if we go by those rules we are still just creating lewds for lewd sake, that you had to provide production notes so that those who question would feel that you had brains behind this or that even you had to do it with you "most trusted photographer friends" because there is danger otherwise.

I appreciate that you shared these, I appreciate the explanation, I'm sorry you felt it necessary to provide the production notes for more than just the sake of providing production notes for the curious, and I commend your bravery and artistry. Thank you for sharing and your contributions to this community.

The only thing I would have added would be more ancient Greek armament to the scene somehow, since "Enyo" is a Greek war goddess.  BTW, considering how long Yaya has been a professional cosplayer, I seriously doubt that there is anything left to cosplay, other than original pieces.

Anyone can be on an 18+ porn site too, but that's not a flaw of the site, it's a lack of parental oversight & that's not an issue for the platform, that's a poor parenting issue.

“Smol child” = referring to pre-adolescence

besides, if the child is so traumatized by artistic nudity they shouldn’t be on art websites period.
