Description

The African Eve, also called the Mitochondrial Eve, is the term given to the most recent common ancestor of all currently living humans. We have all descended in an unbroken line purely through out mothers (and the mothers of those mothers etc.) over the course of 200,000 years. If you were to trace the lineage of every family alive today, all the lines would converge on this single African woman. She is considered to be the great grandmother of us all.
