Graham Sweet is a man that prioritizes a stable and comfortable lifestyle above all else. He strives for complacency in all that he does, abiding to the dull, rhythmic constructs of idle every day occurrences in order to bring himself a sense of peace and tranquility in the wake of insanity that is Gravefall. From this, he puts overwhelming importance on being independent - he believes that stability comes from the strength of supporting oneself entirely, and not being chained down to the authorities or reliance on another. Despite the fact his life is no longer his own, he does try to practice such ideals to the best that he is currently capable of, albeit in small, easy to do steps.

When he acts, he does so for his own benefit, having developed a stronger sense of selfishness after being forced into a life after death. Any reliability or kindness that may come from him now is typically out of either obligation or convenience. He certainly doesn't act on charity or with selfless intentions, as he consciously chooses to remain ignorant to other people's plights. The bubble he's had around himself is still very much intact, allowing nothing to bypass it and enter his personal abodes.

Still very much an impassive person, Graham values conservation of his own energy and lives by his personal rule to waste as little of it as possible, whether it be by his own actions or responding to the actions of others. His high tolerance against outside influences greatly help him with this, allowing the man to keep to himself and away from any trouble - which could be around literally every corner, given how skeptical he can be towards anyone and anything.

Overall, Graham lives to his own casual and mellow tune, with the preference to keep everyone at a reasonable arms length. He remains modest for his own abilities, but won't deny the things he knows he's able to do. Although, when it comes to decision making, Graham is still plagued by his indecisiveness, and would rather put such heavy consequences on someone else's shoulders.

Armageddon and the days leading up to it has taught him A Lot. There will be no more regrets, no more mistakes. With the world as it is now, there's really no where else to run or to hide. Averting his eyes from the situation is no longer an option.

Background:
Contrary to what he's been told in the past, growing up in 'paradise' wasn't exactly all that--not for Graham, anyways. Oahu was hardly anything special when it's the only thing you've ever known since birth; his earliest years spent idling by on the sandy shores or in the widely overgrown jungle of his back yard. Island life, as well as the people, were just as nonchalant and unordinary as they could've been. He could hardly remember feeling any sense of excitement for his days and honestly now, everything back in his youth was nothing but a blur for him. Not exactly the type of life that was synonymous with the hyped up ideal most people he's talked to made it out to be.

His family wasn't really the picture perfect type either, not the sort you'd see on old postcards in expensive tourist shops back before the war. He was a child of divorce, not that it really bothered him as much as it probably should've; he hardly knew his mother as she was gone and out of his life as soon as his father signed the papers. It was difficult for Graham to miss someone he didn't know and for that, he was thankful...after all, he was there to witness the heavy toll the entire thing had on his older sister, and from what he could tell it was just brutal. She was his senior by nine years and so naturally when she was old enough to, she left Hawaii behind as well as all the memories that she actually had of her mother to start anew in San Francisco with her soon to be husband. It was extremely probable that his father felt something in reaction to seeing one of his children move away so soon, but for Graham it was way too easy to cope with the change. Nothing was new--he wasn't very close with her, so obviously there was nothing to mourn. Eventually, he learned that maybe it was better that way...to live his life with little connection to people so that in the end he wouldn't be affected in the slightest when they decided to leave just as his mother and sister had.
The most logical choice, by far.

Nothing noteworthy really happened after that, as far as he was concerned. Well, with the exception of the start of the war, of course. Now THAT was something that was a constant hot topic no matter where he looked in the media. Stories of political unrest and the threats of bombs landing in any given place--it sounded very real for the people it would effect, but for the most part it didn't matter whatsoever to Graham. Why would it, anyways...? He was out in the middle of the ocean where hardly anything out of the ordinary happened; that's what he believed whole heartedly, but for his father it wasn't that simple. The year he turned 12 was the year his father had finally saved up enough funds to make the trip out to San Francisco to care for his only sister. Who, in all irony, wasn't any better off than she had been before she left.

With the growing intensity of the war came the need to draft soldiers for their country's cause, and no one was safe from being taken away to fight. So when Graham heard that his sister's husband was chosen to protect the land they lived in, it came as no surprise. She was beside herself with worry though, as the mortality rate was usually very high and the man she was married to wasn't exactly the best fit for a war. From what Graham knew of him, he was kind and soft--the very type he figured would be picked off first in an instant. He wasn't sure why they had to stay to watch over her when she was a grown woman capable of caring for herself, but his father felt it would be for the best so he had no choice but to comply with his wishes. At the time, it wasn't that big of a deal as he was convinced they'd leave soon enough to return to their boring everyday lives back home.

Graham couldn't have been more wrong in that moment. During the time when they had gone up to San Francisco, the war was already well within its second year of running. Flights to anywhere became increasingly difficult to catch and by around the third year had ended up shutting down completely. Graham was now stranded in San Francisco, faced with the ultimatum that he and his father try to find a life there with his already unstable sister. Nothing in his life had ever affected him as personally as the move did and it was an event that truly rattled Graham for the first few weeks or so. He did, however, learn to cope with his very new living situations and did his very best to take each day in stride, as he always had. He’d live with his previous mindset, but to the absolute extreme as to not ever become as unruffled as he had before. Graham kept to himself, living in his own safe little bubble, as he blissfully chose to remain unaware to the state the world was quickly falling into. He’d tough out the worsening conditions of the atmosphere and could put up with the shrinking living quarters that the renewed city called Argent had crammed every inhabitant into. Heck, as long as he didn't come down with any sort of life threatening disease Graham was certain he'd be able to live through practically anything that was thrown his way. Everything he could manage, but continuing to live with his family was something he wasn't about to do.

As soon as he was old enough to move out and take care of himself, he did so. He wasn't going to continue to live with both his father and wreck of a sister any longer than necessary. After the news of his uncle's death in combat, it was quite noticeable that the moods of everyone within his family had shifted dramatically. It was quickly becoming uncomfortable to live in the same rooms as them, so the most obvious choice was to remove himself completely from that environment. Although low in pay, he did have a job that was able to keep him alive and really...that was more than enough for him.

Since joining Gravefall…

It's taken Graham some time to readjust to the sudden shift in lifestyle, but he's slowly found his balance again in the most mundane and simple aspects of his new life. The fact that Claire ultimately controls him and can look into his mind certainly doesn't sit well with him, but he's come to terms with it, seeing the situation as being something that can't exactly be helped at the present. He's noticed the floors of HQ have been much more quiet as of late, but doesn't feel the need to be concerned over it or their previous inhabitants. So long as nothing happens to his own team (or more specifically him) then he'll continue to carry on as he has been in the last few or so months.
