Love this series, love this picture. Austria is so cute!

The Ottoman empire is gone, there are fewer royal rulers, & we are about six chapters closer to the end of the 'Book of Revelation', but otherwise yeah pretty much kinda the same.

fun (?) fact about WWI: Franz Ferdinand was shot by a serbian terrorist. Serbia was allied with france and britain, so it was actually the allies who started WWI (and thru that, WWII.)

DV19982 In reply to SniperDane31415 [2013-05-08 19:09:04 +0000 UTC]
Actually, Gavrilo Princip was a Serbian nationalist, but his actions did not in any way reflect the views of Serbia's government. Princip shot Ferdinand, who was an Austrian. Austria declared war on Serbia, who was an ally of Russia, who was allied with France and Britain. So it was not the allies who started WWI or WWII. Austria started WWI and Hitler started WWII by invading Poland.

What I meant by the Allies starting WWII is that if the Treaty of Versailles hadn't been so harsh, and had been closer to Wilson's plan (the name escapes me right now) the rise of the Nazis and other events leading up to WWII may have been prevented. However, thank you for pointing out my error about the actual assassination being state-sponsored.

Amazingly lovely, as usual. You are the best DiD artist I've ever seen. I look forward for more of your historic renditions with a DiD scenario.
The murdering of Franz Ferdinand (heir to the Austro Hungarian crown) in a official visit to Belgrade, was in deed the spark that started World War I. Just a reminder, he was shot, not stabbed...

Thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad you're enjoying the stuff!
As for the doll, the client requested the knife, so that's what the doll got. (I assume he thought it would be easier to convey the meaning visually with a knife than perhaps a bullet hole or something.)

Believe me, your pictures always bring very warm and loving feelings to my mind, since they gather all what I love about girls and DiD scenes.
I wonder what would you have in store for other episodes of modern history, such as World War II, The Cold War, The Vietnam Conflict or even the Iraq - Afgan War.

Yes-I-DiD In reply to veaspain [2011-10-07 12:24:29 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately I don't think there will be anything more modern than WWI. The client and I have agreed that more recent wars are too fresh on people's mind and would be too sensitive a topic to tackle in this form. But he's said he definitely plans to commission other historically-themed pics.

In that case, I will commision some more to you. Just give me a chance to balance my bank accounts. Do you take cash only or Paypal?

Only PayPal. And no rush--slots are pretty full right now, so any news ones I receive in the near future will just be on the standby list for a while anyway.

Just before you posted this series up, I got through reading a book about all of the intrigue and assassinations and stuff going on in Russia in the decades leading up to the first world war, and it went into a lot of detail about the Black Hand and the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.
I'm a huge WW1 history buff, so when I saw this, it made me very happy!

Ah, the lovely dual blonde catfight. And I still think it's hilarious how you got Franz Ferdinand looking so adorably plushy. This is great too, just because everytime I look at it, I find something else absolutely wonderful to enjoy! In this case, I just noticed Russia's "angry symbols" feature a sickle and hammer x3. Brilliant!

Ive a question, why do you post these backwards? Also is there gonna be a depiction of WWII? >:3

Yes-I-DiD In reply to Salem-the-Psychic [2011-10-06 01:41:03 +0000 UTC]
I post them last to first so that when new visitors browse my gallery, they will actually show up in order from left to right.
As far as WWII, the client and I have decided that might be a little too recent, and a touchy subject to do without seeming insensitive. So probably no WWII for now.
