Part of a series of "State Belles" by Tucks UK
Photochromed in Saxony

This tarheel state belle is standing in a pine forest, bedecked in what appear to be asters or chrysanthemums (perhaps an unofficial state flower before the dogwood was formally adopted in 1941?).
After the frasier fir (Christmas tree!) the flowering dogwood is one of the most common trees in North Carolina, found in all parts of the state from the mountains to the coast.

Also shown on this card (lower left) is a shield emblem with artwork from the official state seal.
