Pinkie Pie holds her daughter, Mocha Macchiato, as she reads her bedtime story. Mocha sniffles and curls in her mother's arms, hiding her face from her mother's view. Pinkie notices and turns her attention to the trembling filly.

Pinkie Pie: "Oh cupcake, what's wrong? Maybe we're a little too young for Daring Do...?"

The filly's lips quiver and tears brim at her eyes.

Mocha Macchiato: (sniffling) "Momma... are you ever going to..."

The filly chokes on the question, a ball of emotion crack on her vocals and spilling into her tears. Mocha's voice crumbles as her face contorts, and hot teardrops stain her cheeks.

Mocha Macchiato: (sobbing) "...Leave me behind? Like how Daddy left you?"

Pinkie Pie's heart drops, her face twisting into an expression of grief upon watching her daughter collapse before her. Her heart swells painfully, feeling as though it may burst. Pinkie's body slacks and she tightly embraces Mocha.

Pinkie Pie: "Oh cupcake, I'll never leave you. You're always gonna be my baby."

Mocha Macchiato: "Promise?"

Pinkie Pie: "I promise, Mocha."

For context, Mocha is the daughter of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. When Pinkie and Cheese first got together, they were very quickly madly in love.

Do you want to move in together after dating for a couple of weeks? Okay! Do you want to share a bank account after I finish this tiramisu dessert? Hell yes! Do you want to get married now that we've been dating for 6 months? Why not! Oh no we didn't use protection and now I'm pregnant! Well, that's okay because we're literally soulmates and are spending the rest of our lives together

Pinkie and Cheese were satisfied with their relationship for a while, but as time passed, they began to question the integrity of their happiness. Cheese sometimes found himself staring longingly at other mares and stallions or wishing he could travel Equestria again. Mind you, he still had a fondness for Pinkie but he began to recognize his marriage as a shackle that held him back. And as much as he loved his daughter, she too burdened him from being who he wanted.

Cheese expressed his desire to divorce Pinkie, and to his surprise, she agreed to do so. She recognized how quickly their relationship developed was likely a mistake, and though she didn't want Cheese to leave her, she did want him to be happy.

When Cheese moved out, Pinkie fell into a depressed stupor. Unless prompted by Mocha, Pinkie often neglected to eat or get out of bed. Upon fainting at school on account of undernourishment, [CPS Equestrian equivalent] forces put Mocha into her Godparents' (Sombra and Fluttershy) care and Pinkie into therapy. Pinkie was permitted to visit Mocha under supervision. Only until Pinkie successfully completed a couple of months of therapy was Mocha allowed to make the choice to move back in with her.

- After Mocha has moved back in with Pinkie.

"Is Pinkie fully recovered from her depressive state?"
- Yes and no-- she's in better control of her emotions and can confront her feelings. She's refocused her attention on Mocha and wants to focus on how she can make her daughter happy, rather than be sad about her ex-husband.

"Where is Cheese Sandwich? Why didn't Mocha go into his custody?"
- Though he was present throughout the ordeal, he couldn't do much. Primary custody was granted to Pinkie following the divorce, and he had to find a new place to live. He rented out a room in Mud Briar's house and there was not enough space for a child to run around.

"What are Fluttershy and Sombra's thoughts on the situation?"
- For the most part, the two of them are just concerned for Pinkie and her daughter. They don't feel anger toward Cheese Sandwich (but they do feel resentment) and think that both Pinkie and Cheese could have handled themselves better as parents.
