Urei has always been clever, even before the Outbreak, he had graduated at the top of his class. He’s very much a calculating and intelligent individual, that much hasn’t changed. Due to this, though, he’s very often lost in his own thoughts and introspective on most of his thoughts and ideas. He likes to step outside and observe a situation from all angles to come up with the best means to tackle a problem so as to yield the best results. Most might think he’s a bit creepy and emotionally distant, coming off as uncaring or hesitant. Though, this isn’t the case at all! He’s probably one of the best people someone can have on their side, being caring and kind-hearted, even to strangers. Not only that, but in a world where most stab other in the back, Urei would rather die than betray the trust of anyone. He’s patient with his time and energy for the sake of the people around him but because of this, he tends to forget about himself a lot. If it came down to him or someone else eating, he would happily give his food or portions to them. The same goes for people in danger. For even though he’s rational and likes to think before jumping in, if someone is in danger, he doesn’t think and will use his own body as a shield for them if necessary.

Despite being a relatively good person, though, even he has his demons, struggling with severe major depression and mild auditory schizophrenia. Some days are worse than others and if he didn’t have his boyfriend and best friend by his side, he more than likely wouldn’t even be alive, since he either wouldn’t have survived the initial Outbreak or he would have died by his own hand. Urei may not seem like it, but he’s very self-conscious about a lot of things. Mostly being his body due to him being a double amputee. He has a lot of scars around his his shoulders since the whole thing wasn’t done expertly and the whole ordeal was rather messy and sloppy and took a very long time to heal completely. He sees these scars as proof of failure to those around him which is why he is so ashamed of them. The only thing that helps and keeps him grounded is his boyfriend. He gives Urei hope that not everything is horrible with little gestures of kindness. Other than that, he has a very very bleak outlook for himself as well as everyone else; often wondering what the point of it all is and that they are all going to eventually join the hoards of walking corpses that they fight off and hide from so much.

Toxic - Urei has soaked or coated his weapon with poison to help bring down larger and more threatening enemies. He lashes out with his barbed wires, wrapping them around the enemy and effectively badly poisoning them.
Psychic - Urei uses a telekinetic power to either pick up and throw the target away from them or send a pulse to knock the target back a bit so that he can regain his bearings and put distance between himself and the threat in question. This is the same power that allows him to form and use his ‘arms’.
Shadow Ball - Urei hurls a condensed lump of darkness and shadows at the foe. Combined with Calm Mind, it has the potential to be a deadly combination. He rarely uses this skill and will only result to it as a last resort.

History:
Urei was born to a rather normal lower-middle class family. His father was an ER nurse and his mother was a stay at home mom. He was an only child and grew up pretty lonely, having to make his own fun. He came to love reading and books because of this. His mother only encouraged this habit by reading or telling him stories before he slept. Needless to say, he had a very strong bond and relationship with his mother and though he loved his father, he was mostly gone, working and trying his best to support them. When Red was old enough to start attending school, that was when the bullying started and where he met his only and best friend.
    It was one normal day when things had escalated past name calling and some of the kids had pushed Urei down into the freshly wet ground during recess and had ripped his book out of his hands that Belfry came swooping in to give the others what-for. It ended up with Belfry and Urei in the office since all the kids had ganged up against them saying that the two had started the fight. While waiting on their parents and for their turns with the principle they started talking and became quick friends.
    Throughout the rest of their school years they were inseparable and they looked out for each other. Urei found that as long as he had Belfry, he didn't need or want any other friends and shied away from others more, though he did tag along with Belfry if he asked him to hang out with his other friends. However, during his 3rd year of high school, his mother started to get very sick, later finding out it was breast cancer. Belfry was Red's support during that trying time, often coming with him to visit his mother at the hospital. After a year and few more months, his mother's battle ended on his graduation day when she was cleared and declared cancer free. It was one of the best days of his life.
    Another year passed by quickly, Urei attending the same college as Belfry. Rea could have gone to any college he wanted to, but he wanted to stay close to his best friend, whom he was starting to realize he had deeper feelings for. His father had even gotten a promotion at the hospital when his mother told Urei the good news that he was going to be an elder brother. Urei was shocked and more than a bit surprised and worried. But overall, he was happy and elated for both his father and mother.Not to mention, he had always wanted a little sibling. The next few years went by surprisingly smoothly. His mother gave a pre-mature birth at eight and half months to a fairly healthy baby girl, who they named Utai, and Urei couldn't have been happier, sure, he still had pretty bad bouts of existentialism and depression but overall things were good and simple. Well, except for his growing feelings for Belfry. It took Urei a while to tell Belfry and was even more shocked when the other returned his feelings, so shocked that he started crying.
    They had been dating for about month and it was close to Utai's third birthday when it happened. The Outbreak. It all happened so fast that if one asked Urei about what had happened, he would reply with 'I don't remember, it's all a blur.' It started with a fellow student at the campus screaming and then all hell broke loose. Belfry and him luckily found each other and found a hiding place until some of the commotion died down. They then went on their way to sneak out of the school as so they could go check on their families. It was then that Urei saw her. One of the freshmen from their college, cowering at the end of one of the halls, one of those...things slowly closing in. Belfry did try to stop him but Urei was one to move fast if someone was on the line. and just as the thing lunged at her, he had stepped in front and started struggling with it, trying to push it away from both him and the girl. However, he couldn't predict it's movements and the horrible creature ended up with it's teeth buried in his hand. Urei held back a cry of pain with a bite to his lip as Belfry attended to the girl. The scuffle must have been louder that he thought because another one of the creatures came stumbling toward them. Oh my god, was that their English professor?! Belfry ended up having to help get the thing off of Rei by using a pencil someone had dropped, shoving the item into it's head multiple times before it released it's bite and dropped. It was while he was doing this that the other one lunged at Belfry. But no bite came to his person. Instead, with a cry of, "Belfry, NO!" Urei had pushed him away and let the creature clamp down into the flesh of his other forearm. It was all a blur after than. Urei can't even remember how Belfry disposed of the other one. He just knew that one moment he was in the hall, then the next he was being carried, the voice of his best friend ringing in his ears. "Don't move! You'll be alright! I got you!" The panicked pleas of him made him realize that he was a goner, wasn't he? When they got to the nurses office, which was thankfully empty, Belfry barricaded them both inside after carefully placing Rea on one of the beds.
"Free..." At the sound of the nickname, he came running to Urei. Urei looked to him with tears in his eyes. "Free... you have to... I'm not going to make it and I don't want to become like that.. Like them... That's what happens, right? That was our professor out there... Free, please... you have to..." He couldn't bring himself to say the words but he have to because Belfry was already shaking his head and tears were already rolling down his cheeks. "No. No. No. I -I can't..." It was then that he paused as his tear-filled eyes caught sight of something. An axe. Probably left by someone from the first wave. "I...I have an idea..." "Wh-what? You...you can't be serious?! That won't work!" Urei argued only to be met with Belfry's determined and furious face. "I refuse.... I refuse to lose you after only a month. Do you hear me!? I'm not letting you die without a fucking fight!" Urei's eyes widened and he looked down, swallowing hard, preparing himself. He then nodded. "H-hurry, the alcohol, stitches, and bandages are in the top cabinet. I used to help out the nurse sometimes between classes. J...just hurry, p...please."
    After sloppily sterilizing the blade with the alcohol, Belfry shoved a clothe into Urei's mouth. "I...I think you will need this.. I, um, saw in a movie..." Well that was reassuring. After that, he gave him no warning, simply getting to work.
    Urei couldn't imagine what his screams must have sounded like he wished he could have stay quiet, but it hurt so much. So much so that after a while he was wishing for death instead. In a matter of fact, when he started going numb and lightheaded, he didn't fight it, simply mentally apologizing to Belfry in his head before letting himself be swallowed whole.

    When Urei came to he couldn't feel his arms and that caused him to try to sit up in a panic only for someone to gently press him back down into the mattress. His eyes shot open to see Belfry looking down at him worriedly and with a haunted gleam in his eyes. "R..Rei? That you?" At first Urei was confused because who else would it be? It was then that he was assaulted by the memories and his eyes widened, looking around frantically before back up at Belfry, wanting to throw his arms around him in relief...but he couldn't....his arms wouldn't listen to him. "...Free..." Urei's voice came out harsh and scratchy, even hurting his throat a bit. Belfry suddenly burst into tears, muttering how sorry he was and that he just couldn't do it as his arms wrapped tightly around him and pulled Urei up gently. It was then that Urei took notice of the sharp pain that jolted down his spine and the bandages around his chest and the nothingness of where his arms used to be. It was then that he started crying too.
"What...what about that girl...?" He asked softly, throat still sore. Belfry pulled away and tilted Rei's head back, bringing a glass of water to his lips to which he drank gratefully.

"She had already been infected...There was no hope for her and... I could leave you there and I could only carry one person." Urei stopped drinking at his words and started to softly sob to which Belfry only gently pulled him closer as they both weeped in pity, self-loathing, and their most likely lost families.

      They spent quite some time there, just long enough for Urei to recover enough to be able to travel. But once he was, they set off, not wanting to stay in one place too long for fear of being found by the infected or some of the crueler people that seemed to be sprouting up ever since the Outbreak started. After some traveling, Urei was able to find some things to help make and control a synthetic pair of 'arms'. It was purely luck, but Urei has a feeling that Belfry might have done something bad to obtain such a sought after TM. Urei never voiced it though, too thankful to argue. They later found the Faction of Maelstrom and joined them. It was mostly Belfry that convinced Rei, saying that staying in such a strong group would be hella beneficial. However, once they learned of Urei's situation, he was treated differently and as a bother and hinderance. It had gotten to the point where Rei was afraid they would throw him to the infected or kill him themselves despite having gained more control and experience with his 'arms'. So he had planned to leave but once Belfry found out, he insisted on going with him, saying that he wouldn't want to live without him. And so with that they refracted and became wanderers for a time.
    They later found Brentwood and they opened their doors for them, letting them take refuge there without judgment. That is where they have stayed since.
