Description

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

Here's part 1 of a 4 part guide on how to make nuzlocke comics. I was gonna wait and upload them all at once, but I got impatient. XD

I never considered myself the best essay writer when I was in school, so I hope this is easy to follow and somewhat helpful. Also, I apologize for it being so text heavy. I promise the next one will have a lot more visuals~

I already have the other two guides typed up, so expect to see them within the next week!

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you have any additional advice you think I should have included, then please let me know!

for a d/p/p nuzlocke, which starter should i chose? I keep seeing chimchars a lot. Should i choose from the other two or just choose what i want?

Honestly, it's up to you in my opinion. Choose your favorite! But if you are trying to be strategic, I'd say Piplup. It depends on how you play Pokemon I suppose. I would personally choose Chimchar cuz he's my fav out of the 4th gen starters.

I read on TV tropes that the popular starter choices for R/S/E are choices are Torchic and Mudkip. Would I have to pick Treeko to stand out? Because it seems like I'd copying Nuzlocke if I did so...

All 4 of these guides have helped me a lot, but instead of a comic I'm gonna do a story but with artwork!

This is Helpful Thank you for taking the time to write it. It's part of the reason I've only uploaded one page of mine so that I can develop it more and to see where I progressed from my initial start.

I read them way earlier like in January just forgot to comment or fave them and they stayed in my inbox till I had to the chance to go through it

Meeplocke In reply to Mewsol [2014-05-01 23:56:54 +0000 UTC]

Hey I'm starting an X Nuzlocke as well! I jotted down some ideas, such as my fletchling and pidgey being male and female (I smell a couple!) and my chespin's nature being Lonely, so I will make him antisocial as I can completely see a reserved and angry chespin. Concept art on my page. This guide helps. Anyways, maybe collabs? I generally need someone to bounce ideas off.

I really wanna do my own Nuzlocke comic (throughout the regions, starting with Kanto/FireRed), but I've never done any kind of comic before and this is actually really encouraging. So, thanks. Oh, and keep up the good work on yours. Most entertaining Nuzlocke I've read.

Thanks for this guide! I tried making a comic a while back, but stopped. I ended up getting rid of un-uploaded pages, which I'm sad that I did so... I will do another, finish, and plan out everything first this time, make the comic completely, then upload. It'll work much better for me.

In the part where you talk about how the quality of the art doesn't have to be amazing, it may be worth noting that Ruby Hardmode, the original Nuzlocke, looks like complete ass (which obviously doesn't mean it's bad, it's one of the best ones, not only because it started the whole trend)

It's weird, when it comes to important real life things i have memory spam of a potato. But when it comes to pokemon i remember every single battle and catch of mine i did in Emerald.I'm currently dealing with Elite Four(Fought Sidney two days ago,my sceptile Zel did main part of the work but my gyarados Pearl helped too(two critical hits in a row, smart girl)),but i remember every single battle of mine since start even tough i have 62 hours of playing behind me.I'm a weird person.Β

THATS HOW YOU TAKE NOTES? I've been recording every move so I could be accurate! Is that technique recommended?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

YinDragon In reply to ZuesKillerProduction [2014-01-10 23:33:02 +0000 UTC]

Writing down every move isn't necessary, but it's okay for major battles against your rival, gym leaders, evil leaders, and E4. I sometimes ignore the in-game notes when it comes to battles (especially when I win by spamming the same move).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZuesKillerProduction In reply to YinDragon [2014-01-11 02:11:48 +0000 UTC]

To be fair, I wrote down the notes to mine around Augest 2013. Started uploading on January.

So even if I wasted space, I had a lot of planning time.

Thanks for the tips.

I've got a ways to go before I start something like that. I am having issues doing basic settings and positions on stuff, and my story crafting skills are really bad. Hopefully I'll be able to get some help on this and even get started someday.

One of the things everyone is telling me is "complete the damn game." So I've completed my White 2 (woot woot Christmas!) and I've taken all my notes, so I think I'll get started.Β

I've also tried to draw at my maximum level, but I think I should ease into it.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Thank you!
