Sockthulhu is definitely ready to snuggle up in R'lyeh for a few millenia of sleepless waiting, anticipating the doom and downfall of the world as we know it and giving rise to the terrible and magnificent tyranny of the Old Gods once again. Don't hold it against him, though; look how cute he is!My machine gave up the ghost, so in between bigger projects here's a wee Cthulhu made out of light green spa socks. His bum is weighted with polybeads, so he can sit by himself and silently judge all that you do through his sunken black felt eyes. He's about 6 inches tall and can sit in the palm of your hand. His head is cocked up in curiousity thanks to my dismal sewing skills.
He wasn't made from a pattern so he took the entirity of both socks for trial-and-error.

Very cute! I've finally found the "sock monster" responsible for stealing one sock from every pair. It certainly induces madness when I try to find some matching socks!

THIS. This is ridiculously cute. Would you by chance ever sell these guys? I think I need one. The slightly turned head is part of what makes this fluffy depiction so completely endearing. Haha. Awesome job.

thank you! and no commerce on this end, unfortunately; these guys are easy to whip up and more like catharsis than actual work, so i hate to have people spend their hard-earned money on them. but if you ever find yourself in possession of some socks that are begging to be turned into eldritch horrors, i'd be more than happy to pass along the techniques and patterns and such!

i thoroughly enjoy using furry spa socks because, as a messy stitcher, i find that a little bit of fuzz can go a long way for camouflage. other than silly preferences like that, i would say just about anything except for anklet socks, since there really isn't enough material to do things like this (:

Ah, that makes sense. Hmm. I remember seeing some dark green fuzzy winter gloves somewhere in this house (that I hope no one will miss) that are the same kind of material. Thanks for the tip! thank you! the socks he was made of are very soft so it's hard to not want to cuddle with him!
