Part of an Art Challenge on Tumblr, for which I'm still accepting names and numbers/expressions for. If you'd like to you can send me a name of one of my characters and either one of the expressions from the list or make up your own and I'll add it to the list! Silly Vardengard, forgetting your words. Don’t you hate it when your witty comebacks leave you mid-sentence?
Let’s see… some fun info. Vardengard was the very first male OC I ever made and to be honest he actually hasn’t changed that much since then, except for getting upgrades along with my style. He was originally a demon, which in the Between Heaven and Hell universe meant that he was a mortal who willingly surrendered himself to the service and will of the embodiment of evil. Now he has a slightly different backstory. He had horns which were eventually dropped and his long prehensile tail was black and spade-tipped. He also wore a LOT more belts and chinese-styled clothes. His ears were also more cliche elven-like than the wide animal-like ears. Otherwise his chief characteristic of being modeled after bishonen hasn’t changed much, but I gave him much more distinct Caucasian features and cheekbones. And his ponytail has stuck around- it serves absolutely no narrative or cultural purpose at all. It’s purely design and he’s had it so long he looks really weird without it. A touch of asymmetry to reflect his underlying unbalanced life.
I did try giving him black hair once, but he quickly was fixed and his dark red hair is a permanent part of his design.
