Description We´re painting landscapes at school at the moment, and this was an assignment I had to finish for today. It consisted of painting a "fine view"meaning a beautiful landscape, and this is my take on it (Or rather, this is what my pretty "SotC-like" landscape somehow turned into ^^)
Thanks to J-bop who recommended the amazingly helpful video tutorials by Feng Zhu, I managed to cope with the task
Also, I`m sorry for not replying lately, but I`m really busy with school at the moment
Size: somewhat bigger than a3, media: acrylics

Ahhh, there is surely the possibility to make a copy of the digital picture and to frame it. :-D

This is... amazing.
You have no clue how much I love this. I mean, just... just look at this! Look at all of it! The legs of the creatures are better then anything I've ever seen. I love how you did the angle, and the people in the distance is just beautiful. The shadows, the way the mountain crags reach through the clouds.
To me, it feels as though they're grasping for something.
This is so amazing.
I just...
Wow.

You're suffocating me with your thank you's!
But I meant it. It really is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. You better keep this up, or I'll... explode or something.

I love the monochrome feel of this, in spite of the opposing tones you used everywhere, the red and blue. I guess mathematically it makes sense. The perspective is pretty good, sort of a ground-level view, and because of the little depth, it seems it is at human-range as far as scope.

The creatures are just amazing, like something straight out of a Spielberg book. The legs are creepy and the ridges make it feel disgusting, like a roach! XD Anyway, that's just my perspective haha.

One thing that does not have harmony for me, is the transparency of the tree that is below the creature nearest to the viewer. The lunar shape of the branches don't really help the movement of the composition due to their angles, I feel.

Anyway, I really enjoyed your piece, and pondering about what world this is, and how the hell I got there.

Yordaniella In reply to ErnestoVladimir [2013-03-27 15:56:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much for your thorough critique!
I used the red to indicate a sunset but still wanted to keep the overall cold and monochrome feel of the painting, so it´s cool it works! I`m glad you like the creatures so much too!
And you´re absolutely right about the tree ^^ When I started the painting, I didn´t have a snowy landscape in mind, but some kind of bleak meadows with some vegetation, and I just dived into the process very spontaneously, without thinking about the composition beforehand, and eventually the pic developed into what it is now, with the centre of focus lying on the creatures. The tree is something like a residue of the original idea, hence its rather transparent quality I had considered painting over it since it seemed a bit misplaced in the new setting, but I was afraid doing that would make the composition look too empty, and since I also had no idea what I could paint there instead (or how I could alter it to make it look good), I just left everything the way it was ^^ I`ll try to think the composition through more next time before starting a painting to avoid such distracting angles and elements though

You are most welcome, of course! It's been my pleasure

Haha, well, ideas can become mistakes, and mistakes can become new ideas. Such is the beauty of art and its spontaneity. It's interesting to know more about how this came to be, it's a treat really

I wish you the best of luck in future works!

In any case, I faved and am off to constructively comment now :3

One thing I don't get it, this 9gag post is new but this paintings made in 2011. So, is that a new advertisement method, using 9gag? I am agreed with you, she deserves but only i'm in curious.

Yordaniella In reply to cagatayguven [2013-03-16 18:38:42 +0000 UTC]

Hey! Well, to bring a little light into this, I allowed him to take the photo back in early 2012 when I showed off my paintings in class ... didn´t expect the picture to be uploaded by anyone but myself, so I was super surprised when I was told it had suddenly appeared on 9gag yesterday, a year later, but well, I`m the last to mind since it actually seems to have been a raather effective advertisement!

Yordaniella In reply to ribbon3694 [2013-04-14 11:14:56 +0000 UTC]

Nochmal vielen Dank!
