Description Yes, believe it or not, I actually am able to finish things I start! This is the motif that took me most time to make. I`ve had many drafts, but to me it was worth the effort in the end (Even though I´m not 100%ly happy, as I could have worked on it more and I don´t really like how the hands have turned out :/) But whatever, I`m just so glad this is done finally, and now I can start working on the new ideas I have in mind, and also have time to finish the Adie painting
Oils and acrylics, A4. No ref used, but took a short glance into the mirror to see how to paint the legs correctly )

Argh, you only got two views on it! You ARE a member of Getwatchers, right? I think that is where we met? If you're not - join If you are - add this to your artworks! It surely deserves more attention!
Not that I can ever write a long comment like your epic one yesterday, but I can try to describe how much I like this, at least. There are so many perfect details, The shadowing and the technique is so great, but that isn't what makes this so appealing, it's more the light in the middle of the picture. My favourite part is still the compas, it makes sense and it's beautiful.
This kind of reminds me of a Tarot card, same style, same feeling, which is a very positive thing <3 This was surely worth waiting for, and it improved, even though I couild tell this was gonna be great when I saw the first version ;D

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-12 17:27:17 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I guess I submitted it at an adverse time, ´cause I even had more views on all the crappy versions before Yeah, I`m member there - I remember you commented on Golem, and then I clicked through the profiles of some people who commented, and one of them was you and - aah, the memories!!
I will add this, I also already added protection And the light in the middle is what I like best, too! Fun that it reminds you of tarot, that´s what my mum said, too, just the same!! She said it reminded her of the hanged man, in a right way up version I think with this piece I improved quite a bit, on one hand I expanded my patience, and also my skills, I think The pictures I`m planning now will tend in the same stylistical direction, though they´ll be a bit more concrete, maybe. Ar, I want to make so many things! I already know that my next small painting will be called Damocles, and I`m afraid it will take me even longer than this one But I`m looking forward to it, though!
And I also feel like painting some mthological and maybe also religiously inspired pictures, then I (finally!!) want to get to draw something with coal, I´ve found a great picture that perfectly suits this medium, and I already got permission to draw it And then I also want to translate my short story, write more on both of my long stories ... Ahh, two weeks will never be enough to do all this But well, I`ll try to make as much as I can! Now I`ll first of all finally shoot the figures, send them to you, and then reply on your other comment!

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-12 17:45:23 +0000 UTC]

That IS really weird, that was just what I was thinking at first, the hanged man, but then figured, no it differs a lot, but the style is definitely there! That is really cool. Your skills do seem to be improving even though I never doubted them for a second
Damocles? You seem to have a lot of plans, that is supernice to hear! I can't wait to see the figures and all, I am really exited to see if it's something maybe I can do, too, even of course, you know, not as well - but practise!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-12 18:49:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but Damocles won´t have much to do with the actual legend, that much be said Hm, actually painting tarot cards might be a cool challenge, I think! I`ll keep that in the back of my mind and dig out the idea when I have really much time
So, I`ve sent the pics now Sorry for the rather poor quality of photos, though My non-existant macro mode wasn´t really helpful capturing them too detailed :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-12 20:04:17 +0000 UTC]

I LOVE THE FIGURES! They are so cool. You must tell your mother that from me. I forgot the name of the material, what was it
I don't know the legend so you could have fooled me
I thought the quality was as nice as them little figurines - lovely.
I also wanted to paint the tarot deck once, but found out I became obsessed (I'm very sensitive to anything supernatural and had several experiences which I can't remember if I told you) so I had to let the idea go and pack away the cards. Off to bed early today, so will respond to your other comment tomorrow

It was Fimo/Polymer clay No, you haven´t told me about these things, but I believe in them, too I´ve had a few minor experiences like that myself, I once heard my dead cat walking through my room, and when I was a very small child my mum had bought an old suitcase on a flea market, and she told me I woke up at night screaming and seeing light and hearing noise everywhere, also when I was already awake, I think, just like from bombs - but then we got rid of it and everything turned normal again

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 07:12:30 +0000 UTC]

Yay! I found it online, it's really cheap and I definitely want to buy it and try it ut - there seem to be both soft and hard versions, which would be easier for a beginner, I wonder?
Oh, a dead cat walking does NOT sound like something I want to witness. But it's always awesome to witness another believer. <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-13 07:30:37 +0000 UTC]

Hm, I think the soft version, maybe I personally prefer that version, wheras with my mum it´s the other way round, I think it´s mainly because with the harder version it takes, one one hand, more time to knead, but it is also more suitable for detailed works and the finger´s pressure doesn´t "destroy" them so easily
Well, fortunately I only heard the spirit of my dead cat - seeing a dead cat walking would have scared me to death, I guess

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 07:36:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I am already feeling nervous about messing it up, haha I was never any good with clay, like I told you :/
I started a new painting! Yay! In the same style as the last one I am also writing my last little schoolthing, which is just what I want to say at the last exam. I have to speak for 10 minutes
Yeah, lol, I am thinking Stephen Kings Pet Cemetery at once, lol. A dead cat walks there, it's SO creepy :/
A cat that the kids really love dies, and when their father hears about an Indian Pet Cemetery, a place where you can bury the animal and it will come back to you that night - alive - he decides to do just that. He is getting warnings from the guy who showed him the cemetery, but pays no mind. The kids think the cat has gotten weird, and he soon finds out, it's not the same cat inside. It also smells like death.
And then the scariest thing happens: his little son is hit by a car. And the father thinks - if it could bring back the cat ... *ARGH*

Cool, already looking forward to it!! So you´re finished with the ADHD assignment now? 10 minutes is also how long we´ll have to speak in the final oral graduation part :/ But to me, that´s rather far away at the moment Yeah, I know the movie ... Speaking of Stephen King, I`m on page 72 with The Green Mile now, and I like it a lot, so thanks for the tip!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 07:53:58 +0000 UTC]

This is then my exam in the ADHD assignment. I have to speak 10 minutes about the parts that I wrote, or some of that. We work like that, don't know if you do too, but we write something, then defend it orally. So I tried it lots of times before, and hate it obviously, lol, but it will be fine
YAY! The Green Mile! Isn't it incredible that he wrote it by part? I forgot the English word of course, but I remember already telling you how he wrote first part, then published it, then wrote second etc.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-13 08:09:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but I mean, the writing part is finished, then? Well, we´re having something similar to this, too, it´s called GFS, which is the German shortcut for equivalent assessment of pupils` accomplishments (Yeah, it´s weird! ) These are the presentations I`ve always been talking about, the one I did in literature class, the one I`ll be doing in art class (Yay, so much looking forward to exhibiting my stuff!! ), but we mainly only have to present (except for some Chemistry teachers wanting an 8-pages-long text about alchemy -.- ... Meh.) In the Abitur we won´t have to write something either, we´ll just have to indicate three topics for the subject we chose, and then one week before the presentation will be, some teachers will choose which topic one has to deal with in the end
Yeah, and the great thing about the Green Mile is that one doesn´t notice where one part starts and the other one ends!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 09:19:24 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that is done! Mm, the german way sounds much better than writing 50 pages, but then, now I can say I've done it, lol, and believe me, people WILL hear about it, lol
I feel like reading the green mile again, now, lol, just thinking about it But no time The new book in my favorite series (Preston & Child) is coming out this august so I'm like YAY!
Btw, can only small things be made out of fimo? Or also a little bigger, like normal clay?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-13 09:27:39 +0000 UTC]

Normal-sized things work perfectly, too, that´s what I always used to make (I didn´t send them, ´cause I don´t like them too much anymore ) And this one is the month the last Adie volume is said to be published here!!! I`m so much looking forward to it!! But new proposals are always welcome, so what is Preston and Child about?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 10:21:01 +0000 UTC]

Aww, I really would like to have seen yours! I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Yes, I know about the final volume! so lucky, you Germans!
Preston and Child are the ones who wrote The Relic, I think I told you about it before. It's very exciting books, something happens a lot, which can be tiring, but these guys manage to make it interesting, maybe because they know so much about history which they often use in their mystery/detective-stories. Justr brilliant!

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-13 18:06:50 +0000 UTC]

I don´t know if you told me, but sounds cool! Argh, I`ve started working on my new painting now, but I`m not satisfied with how it looks so far at all, will have to start again - but thanks to the signpost I know how to handle failures better, and I know sometime I WILL succeed I think this time I just wasn´t focused and motivated enough, and just wanted to "have it started" :/ Now I think I`ll write a bit tonight, I totally feel like it! Btw, I`m thinking about submitting the closeup version of both my silk hand (one of the photos I shot the day before I had to give it away is actually totally okay, I don´t know why I didn´t like it in the first place) and a closeup version of the signpost, but I know it´s actually not necessary ... How´s your painting evolving? I`m so curious!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-13 19:23:09 +0000 UTC]

No, well, I know THAT feeling all too well. That is my problem also, wanting everything to look perfectly like I want it. So my painting is going fine actually, the fear of failure isn't so strong anymore, although it's there, it's just working on something you don't really know what is, strange!
Anyway, this is on canvas, so it will be awhile before it's done.
I also don't think you should quit yours, keep on working and see what happens
and if you want to post more pics, do it! It doesn't have to be necessary, and I for one would love to see them

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-13 19:31:08 +0000 UTC]

Naaw, I`ll quit and do better, haha Well, if you´d love to see them, that´s reason enough! I`ll upload them tomorrow, I think, or maybe today, don´t already know - at the moment I`m waiting for my deviation and group requests to be accepted, wish me luck at least one of them will be successful

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-14 07:35:32 +0000 UTC]

Haha! Well - layers, Daniella! LAYERS!
No, everyone works differently of course, that is fine. Once in a while I also gave up on something.
Why wouldn't they be succesful? Of course I am wishing luck, let me know how it went

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-14 07:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I`ll try with layers! (I continued working on this version yet again ) At the moment I think the picture has something about it, but it doesn´t show improvement to the signpost at all, which had actually been my aim :/ Also I love the idea so much that I want this to be really great in the end, so ... ah, we´ll see - scraps still is a section, isn´t it! Yeah, the groups ... The one I applied for members is a group for illustration, and this is basically where I want my art to go in the future, kind of I don´t expect to be successful, though, `cause stupid me first applied for members and then browsed through the amazing ( !!!) gallery So I added to my request that I could fully understand them declining me for now, but so far nothing happened and one member has already been accepted since I applied - will have to wait some more But I`m patient (Not really, this time )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-14 09:28:08 +0000 UTC]

I hope it goes well!
Yeah, scraps is a section indeed and one can always try again. But I have lost many good ideas on account of being fed up with it going wrong. It just kills Haha. But I am sure you will do fine or start over. And dare I ask - what about Adie?
What is the name of that group, if I might ask? And what is meant by illustration, is that like ... for books, that kind of illustration? Sorry I am not very much into the artsy language
Let me know how it goes.

Ah, Traditional-Media. That is the group who rejected me once, remember how pissed I was? Many times, even. They now accepted three of my paintings, but to say they are fair wouldn't be right. They aren't looking for talent or a good painting, but the two mentioned qualities in certain ways that fit their taste.
It usually takes them a week to respond. Approximately. Whether they say yes or no.
Ahh, thanks for the info on illustration! ;D

Haha, thanks, it was IllustrationNow On their page it said one had to write something about oneself and one´s art in the request, and that they´d have a look at one´s page before accepting someone as a member, so I was pretty insecure, but so great that it worked in the end The deviation submission is still awaiting approval from TraditionalMedia, though, so you didn´t get me too wrong The smiley is : iconlachoirplz : without the spaces Another cool (and pretty silly ) icon is this one - Random information!

Thanks Btw, I´m planning to write a journal featuring my favourite pieces on dA, and if I get to do it, I`d like to know whether you´d prefer Under The Pink to be in it, or do you like your new painting better? (I`ll surely love both, so I leave the decision up to you )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-15 10:50:50 +0000 UTC]

Depends on when you plan to write that journal, 'cause the next one (Welcome to The Jungle) isn't going to be ready until next week or the likes. So - if you are writing it this week, I will be jolly to have Under The Pink featured, and if you write it next week and you like WTTJ better - you can feature that it's very different though, from Under The Pink, very different
I am sitting here writing for that exam on Monday - argh - and I just want to PAINT! Haha.

Oh, I`m flexible with writing it Which one do you personally like better, though? Haha, feel free to give me your painting motivation when it´s distracting you from working! I don´t feel like painting at all at the moment, a bit more like writing, but I don´t think I`ll really do Looks like this is going to be a lazy day for me - sorry for you having to work :/

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-15 14:48:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh, that is tough to say, as one isn't done yet, I don't know if I'm the only one who goes "when I do this, it will be better" all the way through a painting, but I sure have some stuff I hope is gonna add to it.
If I was to choose now, definitely Under The Pink
I got to paint a little anyway. I wrote a lot on my schoolstuff, and then I painted! :d I didn't get very far, but hey It's done when it's done

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-16 12:54:43 +0000 UTC]

Okay, then I`ll feature Under The Pink, I just don´t know when exactly I`ll do it Got not very far with the paintng or the assignment?
I think today I`m going to write a bit, and shoot some reference photos of myself, for that new painting In the beginning I had planned to do it without any reference, but ... Naw :/ I want this to be really good, so I think I don´t have a choice

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-16 14:44:34 +0000 UTC]

Oh, no, no rush of course
Well, Welcome To The Jungle is also up now so you could also judge for yourself and see which one you like more. I felt better after creating Under The Pink I have to say. I am happy with WTTJ, but I feel a little angry after making it, lol, not sure why. Now I must read and study and not get more ideas

Haha Yeah, I had been experimenting with a few new avatars today, and this was the one I chose in the end. I just couldn´t stand the old one anymore and had planned to replace it for quite some time, I just think it made me look creepy and unfriendly - that one hopefully doesn´t! Now that I get to ask, who is the guy in your avatar, actually? Had been wondering about that since we met, but I always forgot to ask

LadyChristina In reply to Yordaniella [2011-06-16 18:19:55 +0000 UTC]

Yay! another long comment from you! I will save it till after I eat, just to be able to read it thoroughly
Haha, I laughed out loud at creepy and unfriendly. No, I liked the old avatar, but then I do love this one too, so I will get used to it.
My avatar, that is River Phoenix, may he rest in peace, and I would love a new one as much as I love him, which showed my art. But I don't know how to make them, so it will have to wait.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yordaniella In reply to LadyChristina [2011-06-16 18:48:34 +0000 UTC]

Ohh, so easy to make them! (Ultimate proof: I managed to do it ) Just click onto your avatar on the left top corner of your page, then a small pencil will pop up, you click onto it and it tells you to upload an image, which you do, and then you only have to zoom around and place the image the way you want to have it in that avatar-sized square that appears when you´ve chosen your picture, and then save everything, and you have a new avatar Hopefully that helps
