It's Lady-Kiitsune 's birthday and I just finished this a little bit ago. Blegh, I'm not too happy with how a lot of it turned out (and the photo taken with my phone of this page from my sketchbook doesn't help much with that.) This is why I don't do traditional coloring. >< But she said I could post it to dA, so here it is~.
I should explain that her kitsune persona Kimba, has an evil half hidden beneath the surface a la Jekyll and Hyde, a kyuubi that goes by the name of Pyralis. I can't really ANIMALS in art ever but for some reason I really just felt the need to draw Pyralis as her birthday gift. (So you got a lot of cringe-worthy mixing of Sharpies and colored pencils because I JUST FELT LIKE IT, DAMN IT.)
Annotation - I've always pictured Kimba with little plumes of foxfire on the ends of her tails, but I've always imagined Pyralis with these giant, undulating plumes of ash on the ends of her tails by contrast.
All that being said, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS~. You deserve an awesome birthday after how crappy the last few days have been.

I don't know what you're talking about Yoru because this came out super great man!! I think you blended the colors and mediums exceptionally well and I like how you did the lines in red rather than black. I also enjoy the minimalist approach you went with for the lines as well as how I can tell you were careful with what direction you colored in which makes the coloring add this dimension of her actually having fur. It's great work yo and I know Kimba loves it!!~ <3

Considering my current state of Naruto-ness i totally thought kyuubi when i saw the thumb nail but i definitely like this better than Kyuubi.

; ; I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY. I think it actually looks really good with the blending of sharpie and colored pencil. And hey traditional art is hard man. There's a reason I don't do it a lot myself even with my markers. But seriously, I adore this and that concept with the plumes of foxfire and ash!! Ugh I keep looking back up at this and admiring it.

I completely agree with you there. Traditional art can honestly be just as gorgeous as digital, if not more so. The trick is just mastering it with the mediums that you have and that is always a challenge in on itself.
And believe me I adore it. I still look at it now and love it just as much as I did the first time. ;w;
