The most recent thing I drew (and don't worry, after this and one more sketch, I'll be done uploading for the night.) And this is yet another thing I drew for my husband, because Crystal is technically HIS Batman OC.But I decided, annoying as it was to try designing Crescendo's villain costume, I really wanted to draw her in formal wear. Not sure why, but I did. (After all, she DOES end up taking on a job as one of the classier musicians working at the Iceberg Lounge, so she's got to look nice. That should also explain her gloves, which, I imagine, are white, probably to offset a black gown.) And where I figure her to be in her early twenties in the picture with her villain outfit , I would say that here, she's in her early to mid-thirties.
I actually love how her face turned out. Just saying. Yezzy says that she looks a lot like certain characters from the anime "Princess Jellyfish," and when he showed me an example of what he was talking about, she DOES look surprisingly similar in facial design, which was both surprising and interesting. Apparently I can somehow almost mimic styles I've never seen before??
And of the few things that I've drawn so far this year, I'm definitely liking this one the most. I just really love overall how this turned out.

^^~ Why thank you! *chuckles* And she probably does, now that I think about it! I imagine she'd take a very "Hands off, please" attitude toward any suitors trying to court her while she's at the Lounge. Crystal takes her job very seriously, probably because creating elegant music is her passion.

Eh, I don't see the resemblance to Kuranosuke, which is the character I assume you mean since the other characters are... quite unique. XD Him being the cross-dressing princess and whatnot. The large eyes are maybe a bit similar but that's a staple in many anime.
Besides that, very cute character design.

True, large eyes tend to be of an anime-style staple. I've always drawn my characters with exceptionally large eyes as a result of the anime phase I went through in high school.

I really enjoy Princess Jellyfish myself, and it one of the only anime's I got my mom to watch and enjoy and I relate to the main character a lot.
(A glasses wearing geek who is overly obsessed with her fandom, has low self esteem, and has trouble interacting with anyone outside her group of friends- whom are also obsessed geeks.)
Now's the best time to get into it to as the english version was released on Netfliks and is available on a few anime watching sites.

It was definitely a surprise, especially since I've been a little cold on anime recently. Other then Princess Jellyfish, the only new anime I've liked in years is Madoka Magica. I don't know what it is about current anime that just makes me not interested.

Oh no, I totally get that! Most current anime is just...so...meh. It's like, almost everything that's been coming out recently feels like the creators are trying too hard, you know? It's all stuff that's been done before. Which is probably why it's just not interesting. I can't speak for Madoka Magica (though I know it's also apparently HUGE right now,) but the most recent anime series that I was able to enjoy and watch all the way through when it was on was Dream Eater Merry. It was decently fresh, all things considered, with an interesting and inspiring set of concepts. The only disappointment I had was that the first season ended with so many loose ends, and the second season is currently in the making, so I may be waiting a while before I ever see any more of it. But, given your recommendation along with my friend Nicole's praising it and my husband loving it, I'm definitely going to have to give Princess Jellyfish a try.
