Description It's finally done! Hnnnnnng. I spent like 6 days doing this. Not 6 whole days but rather a portion for each day but still. This is like one of my more elaborate digital pieces up to date... Who am I kidding? This is my most elaborate piece up to date.

It's a shame that my anatomy is so screwed because I can't get any decent reference for the pose I wanted though. But I seriously tried my best and redrew the sketch a bunch of times. This was the best out of the bunch, really. I guess that just means that I'm back to more anatomy practice, huh?

Anyway, you guys have GOT to read Anagle Mole. It's pretty awesome. I mean it's nonsensical at times but it's the beauty of it! *A* I'm actually appalled that there's no Luchiru fanart on dA yet. He's too cute, after all. And I butchered his design, by the way. His hair is... pretty weird and it became neat because of stylization and whatnot. orz

What's done is done though and I'm happy with this so 'til next time!

For I really would appreciate help with anatomy. And if it's not too much, additional background help too since this is only my 2nd decent BG.

adflkj i like the angle that you did this in, the pose is very dynamic and also that expression is very well done ;DD the background fits very well with it also // i love how 'paintery' it feels <3

Torikkun [2012-07-25 20:00:51 +0000 UTC]

I really love this piece. <3 Despite not knowing the character, the energy in the pose, the composition, and the background are all really well done.

Of course, anatomy is always giving us artists a hard time and the right arm/hand is looking funky (which I think you know). I tried posing in front of a mirror to figure out the issue....but that didn't work out too well. <<; I think it might have to do with shading/lighting. What were you originally intending the pose to look like? Is Luchiru running where is whole body is almost upright? Is he leaning down a bit? (I'm thinking of this last question because the neck area is bugging me a bit too)

Sorry for the long comment! Rereading it, it doesn't sound like me at all, but I'm only trying to help! >A<; I really do love this piece, and I think everything else is great except for the little anatomical bits. :]

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-07-25 23:21:17 +0000 UTC]

Ah don't mention it. I really do appreciate the comment.
The main problem with this piece I think is that it turned from the idea of Luchiru jumping/free-falling to him trying to punch someone in the face. orz

And yeah. The right arm is really strange. I sketched and sketched and sketched but I couldn't fix it. Plus I didn't have the guts to check the mirror back then since that would mean that I'd be posing in a place where my other relatives could see. orz

And thaaanks. I do appreciate this a lot. Man, I'm looking for a lot of critiques to help me in pointing out the stuff I'm doing wrong and whatnot

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-26 00:04:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, changing ideas in the middle of a piece always sucks. orz I now see how it's supposed to be him punching someone though.

So, his right arm is pulling back and going to punch upward? That's the kind of feel I get looking at it again. Also, what's his left hand supposed to be doing?

I think it has less to do with the sketch and maybe more to do with lighting/shading. I'm guessing that you're having a problem with foreshortening-which tends to look super-awkward in a plain lined sketch with no shadows.

I totally know what you mean about the posing thing. I always try to make sure everyone is downstairs when I do mine. xD

I'm glad to help. :3 I just hope I don't sound stuck-up or condescending. I'm definitely not a pro, but I tend to be able to spot people's issues. orz (Even if I can't totally see my own.)

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-07-27 05:03:58 +0000 UTC]

Haha. I actually posed in front of the mirror yesterday for liek a few minutes an I was like "My pose was totally off. Pfffft"

And yeah. Although it's only supposed to be a slight tilt upwards His left hand is somewhat positioned to parry incoming attacks.

I think it's still the sketch. All problems I have with anatomy usually are rooted from the sketch itself because the pose is just plain awkward but I end up not knowing what to do with it.

And not at all! ouo
I give critiques every now and then and I feel like I'm much more colder sounding than you. Same as you, I'm not a pro but I do see faulty things easily. orz

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-27 13:27:17 +0000 UTC]

xD Sometimes I know that, but I'm too frustrated so I just give up and keep drawing anyway.

Huh. Then I think the left arm/hand is fine... When I was posing in front of the mirror, I found that if I was about to punch someone, I would bring my arm back-which means that you can see a bit of the elbow bending. The way you have it now, it looks like his arm is completely straight.

Thanks. I try my best to not sound like an asshole. orz

Have you ever critiqued my stuff before? ouo?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-07-29 14:50:11 +0000 UTC]

Haha. Same here. I don;t want to look at references because I feel like it should come off more naturally although... that's a fluke and I know it. X'D

And yeah. I did realize that when I posed the other day. I blame my laziness and stubborness. It's just that I sometimes want to draw things without a reference even though I know I need one. orz

Haha. I try too but I'm less apologetic in general mainly because I've given critiques mainly to people I don't really know. I mean I try to pick out good points as wel and when I can't, I just don't say anything as a whole

And nope. i don't think so. I don't really like giving critiques to friends since I don't know who's comfortable with them and who isn't. orz

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-29 20:02:41 +0000 UTC]

That's probably the main issue. Problem solved ish? |D

I don't feel comfortable enough to give critiques to strangers. >>; I'm really self-conscious of what other people think of me, so I don't like telling people things that might offend them... Not saying anything is generally what I do too. <<

Ah I see. Generally if I know people well enough, I know they won't get offended. Or if they ask, I'll do it. Otherwise, not. xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-07-30 02:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah It is. X'D

It may sound harsh to some but I think that if people can't stand a well meaning critique, then they should stop and take a look at themselves. I'm the type who really dislikes people who are adamant about rejecting negative feedback in whatever they do. I also think about things like "If people are always going to give them slack then they won't know what they're doing wrong and learn how to fix it."

I say this also out of the fact that I found myself looking back at all my drawing experiences from the past and wishing that someone gave me constructive criticism. Well that and I'm tired of dealing with people who think that they're infallible. Overall, I hate it when people think that they're always right because hell part of being human is contending with uncertainty. Lots of it... and I've turned this into a more philosophical debate so I'll stop with that train of thought

Anyway, being a critique to someone in a one-time thing is better for me than being a critique all the time... which is why I try to stay out of critiquing friends. I feel that once I start, I won't hold back... which is not necessarily true but at least it makes the borderline more easy to grasp

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-30 16:58:31 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't matter too much to me as long as the person doesn't rub it in my face about how great s/he is (when s/he really isn't). That would probably be bad since they're getting slack but... if you come to me, I'll probably deliver up some tough love. It's quite fun sometimes to be mean if you're always acting nice. //shot

That's exactly why I do what I was just talking about >>b

Ah I see. I think I'm always naturally criticizing people, so it's a bit of a problem for me. orz

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-07-31 08:30:38 +0000 UTC]

I have yet to receive a critique like that. I mean I've received short critiques that don't say much save for point at the stuff I need to improve on but judging from the tone, I can judge that they're meant o help me so I don't mind and actually like that.

Mmmm. I'm the same actually. I tend to criticize people a lot in my head. I tend to keep things to myself to avoid conflict though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-31 18:14:00 +0000 UTC]

What I meant was that sometimes, especially in the high school program I graduated from, people will think that they're much smarter than everyone else simply because of their better grades when that's all they can do: get good grades. They can't necessarily think-which is much more important. So everyone once in awhile when those types come up to me, I say something to knock down their ego a bit. >>;

But yeah, constructive criticism is always good. :> (And avoiding conflict is too. xD)

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-08-04 12:28:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh I think I was a person like that in my younger years. It happens to people who haven't experienced being on the other end of the spectrum. I became better in college though after certain experiences.

It really does suck if people discount your intelligence just because you tend to show more poorly when it comes to grade results. That's why it's good to disprove them from time to time by doing real well n_n

Aha. Yes it is. Support is good too. Man, I love all of you guys for your undying support and friendship

... Dang. i'll shut up now before I melt you from my cheesiness

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-08-05 18:45:08 +0000 UTC]

It sucks even more if you're smart, but just don't do well on tests. (Not a problem for me, but for my sister... ;-; )

<3 If I ever go to the Philippines, I'll be sure to go and try to find you. (If I don't get lost in the country first. :'D)

OH YEAH. I read Anagle Mole! (Or what's out so far.) It's so good...! I just wish the storyline didn't move so fast. I don't think the author really gave a chance for the characters to totally develop...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-08-06 00:40:05 +0000 UTC]

Mmm. Is your sister good on any particular subject though?
Most of the time, some people just have difficulty in memorization and that's why they do badly.

Aha. I'd be happy if you do that *A*

Oh yay! *A*
Mmmm. It is fast-paced but it's fast-paced in a way that makes sense, I guess. Although I still wonder WHY it took so long for them to send a scout to Earth. I can't really predict if Fukuchi Tsubasa would explain this since there wasn't a similar plot complication in Law of Ueki. That's another one of his works, by the way and it has an anime which I fell in love with. Actually, part of the reason why I like Anagle Mole so much is because it's pretty similar to Law Ueki in a lot of ways.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-08-06 02:08:58 +0000 UTC]

She is awesome at history/government and languages. >>b Like super pro. xD She sucks at multiple choice...

:'D Now I just need money for a plane ticket, lol. Air travel is so expensive nowadays! =3=

It does seem to make sense, and yet I kind of feel disconnected from it. I don't really know how to explain it. Like, if you think about where the story is right now, it seems like the big climax is going to happen soon. Maybe not, and I'm just misjudging things, but the fact that they even brought a human to Anaguland already seems like a big event. O.o I don't know. >.< I really want to see how it turns out! <3

: o I've heard of Law of Ueki. I've yet to read it though...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-08-06 05:31:26 +0000 UTC]

I think multiple choice works best for people who are more analytical in a mathematical framework. orz
And I take it that she at least does really well on those two areas?

It is. Traveling in general is expensive.

Mmmm. Well there are a lot of questionable factors about it. X'D
For one, I still don't get how Luchiru managed to get to Japan after coming from My. Rushmore buuuuut I'm laughing at it too much to care. I just think that the author is on pure crack so yeah. //shot// And I have a suspicion that Kyosuke and Chiwa's brother is going to be a major person for moving the plot *A*

Law of Ueki is cool *A*
It's one of the last anime that I watched in full before I ended up stopping watching anime altogether.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-08-07 02:45:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't tend to do so well on multiple choice either. orz I tend to do better on free response. >__>; Even though I'm a math person.

Yeah, she's a pro in those areas. u__u I always call her a language sponge... because she doesn't need to really practice a language like other people and just spits out foreign languages.

Yeah, that kind of bugged me. =o= It didn't bother me so much until he brought Kyousuke to Mount Rushmore. Before that, I just figured that he was a Majin, so they had their crazy ways to get around. =w=b

Chiwa is like the perfect example of why humans are so scary and are "above" the majin. She's too smart. xD But yeah, I'm really looking forward to what they do. (Especially Kyousuke <3)

I don't really watch much anime orz. It makes me realize how much time I'm wasting. xD; Although, being on summer break, I've watched more stuff now.

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-08-07 02:55:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh really? Well there are always exceptions to it. Personally, I'm good at deduction and am just generally lucky X'D

Aha well people are normally inherently better at something although I still believe in the 10000-hr rule and give more credit to actual effort than plain talent.

Mmmm. I made speculations of him using his dekos at first but was like "...Nah" then I just completely shunned the idea. orz

And pffft. I like how Chiwa is smart n a derpy way. I think the stalker guy is smarter though. Man, I love him X'D I swear that the stalker chapter is the beeeeeest crack chapter I've read.

And I'm actually the same although... I've recently picked up Kuroko no Basuke. I can't help it. Kuroko has so many dynamic poses that I just want to draw and sports stuff are always better animated. I couldn't get into PoT manga but I loved the anime as well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Torikkun In reply to yorunaka [2012-08-08 22:24:49 +0000 UTC]

My luck sucks, lol. xD And plus, I hate how there are always trick responses in the multiple choice. :'< I always narrow it down to two and manage to pick the wrong one. orz

What's the 10000 hour rule? And luckily, she really likes those subjects that she's talented in, so she puts in tons of effort. ;] She works really hard at everything, so it's not like she abuses it. xD

Ahaha, yeah, that stalker is hilarious. xD He's not really a stalker either, lolz. I don't even think he was sending Chiwa the letters, although Kyousuke though so...?

Ooooh, Kuroko no Basuke is great! *A* It's kind of crazy how everyone has these "supernatural" talents though. xD Quite funny too. Sports are always really animated. I think that's why people always tell you to practice figure drawing with sports magazines. :>

What's PoT...? orz I feel like I've heard of it some where before...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorunaka In reply to Torikkun [2012-08-27 12:00:04 +0000 UTC]

Ah I'm the opposite. My luck is pretty good plus I like trick questions. //shot

Yep. It simply says that for you to be truly an 'expert' or 'world class phenomenon' at something, you need to spend at least 10000 hours on it.

And that's good. Attitude is the most important thing, in my opinion since if you just give up, you won't get anywhere.

As for the stalker in Anagle Mole. Yeah. I highly doubt that it was him who sent the letter. But he's a stalker nonetheless. A pro one. Ahahaha. He kinda makes me think of Kuroko because of his lack of presence. //shot for the allusion

And yes. Man, I actually laughed when I saw the 'supernatural' tag on KuroBasu because it's pretty much true. Ahahaha.

PoT stands for Prince of Tennis ouo

Oh oh. Man you have GOT to tell me once you've reached the stalker part. *A*

Pffft. I can't help but read it until late because I kept laughing. I wanna read it again but I feel like I won't laugh as much since part of the humor is greatly accredited to the fact that the author explores such bizarre themes which shock you at first and weird you out as well.

I still don't understand how he managed to travel from Mt. Rushmore to Japan, actually

Ah I actually read it in Mangafox X'D
And pfffft. That's too funny. Stalker part is so funny. man, I think I'll reread it again

Law of Ueki is pretty good! It's one of the anime that I finished *A*
I really like some ending songs of Law of Ueki too. And Ueki is just adorable although there are some small detail inconsistencies as well but what the heck? Almost every shounen I've watched has those.

Well homestay is pretty popular in Japan. You can easily arrange to stay in the house of someone you're not related, actually X'D
Although... I wonder how the Majin ruler managed to get connections. //thinks

FlowerKiss In reply to yorunaka [2012-07-06 03:34:07 +0000 UTC]

I personally like the way you did his hair though. xD The author sometimes makes it weird looking and other times really nice. lol.

Mangafox denied me! D8
ahaha, I SO knew the brother was acting bait. lolol.

Oh, I'll try to watch it sometime then.. maybe. xD
I remember one inconsistency in Reborn. Tsuna saw a picture of nono and said "He's the 9th?" and just some thoughts. And then later at some point, he was remembering him as like a surrogate grandfather from his babyhood.

That would explain why when anybody does homestay here, it's a foreigner from Japan. x'DD
But yeah, that's what I mean. xD

Oh try it at Batoto then? O:

Ah I remember thinking that Reborn had quite a few inconsistencies. I forgot which exactly but yeah. Fairy Tale has them too.

OH AND YOU TOTALLY SHOULD WATCH IT. Hnnnng. Ueki's too fun. Luchiru is admittedly cuter but I like Ueki too and Tenko. Tenko. Hnnng. I love Tenko. And to think I still remember his name even if it's been years since I've seen Ueki

I don't really know. Haha. It's so inconsistent, isn't it? But... I have my hunches and it may be probable that things aren't so flawed if my hunches are correct.
