Stop selling yourself short, there isn't a single part of this manip that's even close to "fail". The blending on the mane and tail and practically everything else is beautiful, and I love the mood - kind of dark, but there's a bit of hope in the horse's expression, and the silver lining in the clouds.

For the sky I really didn't do much. If you'll look at the original stock it was pretty awesome on it's own! I just cut it out with a fuzzy brush and did the layer on overlay.
For the hooves, you're gonna think I'm weird, but I usually use a snowflake eraser brush I have. It sounds odd but the reason why it works is because it has intricate designs that, when used to erase the hooves, looks like grass.
I have...different..approaches, but they work for me. Hope that explains it?
