For a year or two I had been wanting to visit the Garron Plateau as it's the most extensive area of intact upland Blanket bogs in Northern Ireland, and that kinda thing really gets me excited

I finally made it up there on the 12th of July a few summers ago and went for a 13 mile walk around the bog and cliffs. Its a real wilderness area up there with very little visible human impact. In winter time this place must be really desolate.

There are well developed pool complexes on this bog, I think these are called oligotrophic lakes.
