Description Location: Carntogher Mountain, Maghera, Co. Londonderry, Northern Ireland
__________

On my mid summer trip to Carntogher mountain. It was the first time I had been to the area. Every day I see the hill off in in distance so it was about time that I visited it

View from the track up Carntogher looking across the mid-ulster countryside.

Would be even lovelier without the metal string running along the dry wall fence.

I hadn't noticed it Though I'm not going to let it stop me taking a picture. It tells us that it is a working landscape and the farmer is protecting the stonewall by keeping cattle from leaning against it

These walls used to be for keeping the cattle from running away and now they had to put metal fences to protect the walls from being leaned on by cattle. Maybe later they are going to put some ciment walls to protect the metal fences from being destroyed. Ironic isn't it?

I love the clarity and depth/distance in this picture! Almost as if the whole world is laid out for you to survey!! The details are so clear and crisp that you can see the blades of grass up front as clear as you can see the mountains in the background. EXCELLENT shot!
