The second instance of Minstrel by herself, and wouldn't you know it, she was terribly careless, as everyone in her wider party seems to be...it's a wonder that this party is ever successful at all, given their luck!

Minstrel is an elven aristocrat in her homeland, and while most elves are content to adore trees and sing songs, politics are just as ugly in the forest as they are anywhere else! While Minstrel never chooses to involve herself in politics, her family has sadly taken stances that put her surname squarely on the side of the radical factions loyal to the elven queen. What better message to send than killing the most skilled bardic scion of a great house so as to discourage loyalty to that queen? This paints a rather large target on her back, but no assassin would be so bold as to cut up an elven aristocrat! More subtle means are required, and rival factions know just the elf to approach for such a job.

Many are aware of Minstrel's skill as a scryer and diviner. A foreign elf by the name of Warden hires Minstrel to spy on a distant enemy, knowing full well this lich can sense scrying and punishes those who do so...As Minstrel prepares her divining set, she slips off her adventuring boots to get comfortable and stretches out her senses. She sees distant places and hears unknowable chants before her mind's eye comes to rest upon the lich Warden seeks. But her secret spying session remains a secret for but a brief time, and her scrying eye is spotted by the lich. With an almost uncaring and annoyed cast of a deadly arcane spell, the scrying eye receives the necrotic energy and transfers it directly into Minstrel's magic-addled brain. The girl-elf is barely more than a fly to the lich, and flies must be swatted...A short spasm follows as the necromancy surges through her mind, and her senses go dark before Minstrel topples over in a heap, dead as a doornail. The necrotic energy arcs over her now cooling corpse as she stares into nothingness, Warden watching on with a rather amused expression...so ends the story of the youthful elven aristocrat. Oh well! I'm sure Warden, who has a great love of beautiful things, will have no trouble finding uses for the beautiful elf-maid! He always did wonder what Minstrel's feet smelled like...
