Description Starting a new build of the Revell 1/32 UH-1D kit, though the finished product is actually supposed to be a civilian Bell 205+, which is basically the civvie version of the UH-1H. But it’s a long-body single-engine Huey, so hopefully close enough. I’m hoping to produce a reasonable representation of the Huey my younger sister flew on when she was on a Helitack crew.

Being a firefighter in California means learning to love and respect the UH-1, whether you get to actually ride in one or not (and I have rode in a few, usually to and from places I really didn’t want to go). The good old Huey is simply the greatest rotor-wing aircraft that ever achieved powered flight. There’s nothing it can’t do. Blackhawks want to be Hueys when they grow up!

That being said, this kit sucks. Half the parts are bent to shit, including both rotor blades. The surface detail for the passenger area is nice, but there’s no seats, so I’ll have to figure out how to make them myself. Overall fit is absolute crap. I really should’ve seen this coming when I picked it up for 20 bucks. Oh well.
