Can’t say that I’m a Tom Cruise fan (Tropic Thunder notwithstanding), but………holy shit, Top Gun 2 was the best movie I’ve seen in years. And the F-14 is admittedly an incredibly cool airplane, and I grew up east of San Diego, with Pacific Fleet F-14s flying over my little hometown in the mountains on their way to and from the exercise areas out in the desert, and the Miramar air show was a big event every year. And Ward Carroll’s YouTube channel has rekindled my childhood enthusiasm for the Tomcat. And it’s still my favorite jet in every Ace Combat game. And…

Anyway, my rambling aside, F-14s are badass, Top Gun 2 was cool, and my Dad is a fan of both the original movie and the sequel. So I’m building this 1/48 F-14A from Tamiya as Maverick and Goose’s bird from the first movie. I plan on pairing this one up with a future build of Maverick’s FA-18E from the sequel and giving both to my Dad. So here we have Mav up front doing some of that pilot shit and Goose in the back calling the fight.
