In Back To The Future the seventeen year old Marty McFly is accidentally sent back in time from 1985 to 1955 and thereby he inadvertently causes his mother Lorraine to fall in love with him. So his parents don't get to meet and he has to make them fall in love with each other, so he would be born.
Don't know yet how to make that fit with the Gleeverse, but since I'm sure Jesse is Wemma's love child, he messed up big by traveling back in time and so the other ones travel back, too, to set things right again. I guess. XD

Well, Rory IS an Irish boy, an exchange student. It's just that some fans thought 'Hey, he looks like Blaine and Kurt's son! I bet he came from the future to make sure his parents won't break up!' and then this crossover with Back to the future was created. XD

No, that crossover is just the craziness of the fandom. Sugar and Rory and some others are from the future and want to make sure that their parents stay together.
