1st of 3 commissions for of his character Hawkfoot.

Heehee, I don't even know where to start with this- I'm just so thrilled with how it turned out!
Even starting with the sketch, the comp/posing came out almost too easily, and then with the inking... I don't like inking, ok? Traditional isn't quite so bad, but it's so much harder to fix tradit inking and I usually end up horribly messing up something obvious but this time it didn't really happen! (Well, with the exception of the right front paw... and Hawkfoot's neck/ribcage, bothers me...) (Inks are here: [link] .)

And then the coloring. So the bg gave me some difficulty, but when has that been new? The coloring was sooooo fun. It's different from the refs aether gave me, but I can't really bring myself to do the generic half man-half horse coloring on a centaur anymore, and the colors on his clothing were chosen because they (hopefully) go well with the general coloring of him, the bg, and make him pop at the same time.

So yeah. I'm thrilled to bits with this (and the fact that I got paid to do something so fun. I mean really- a centaur and a big beastie about to kill each other!).

Btw, aether- you wanted him to have more hunting gear, so I gave him a knife, an axe, a spear (for hunting bigger game, I guess), a shield (they look cool?), and a pouch or two. And a thing or two on his "horse" half, because I just don't see why a centaur would wear clothes on one part and not the other.

Man that's a big cat.
