Ah Saren. He was a great villain smart and even indoctrinated very capable. He was also kind of a tragic figure in how Sovereign used his desire to protect the peoples of Citadel Space against them.
In many ways he remains my favourite Mass Effect villain, certainly he ranks higher than The Illusive Man/Jack Harper and Cerberus.

IMO, still the best villain of any BW game I've played. I wish we could have saved him in the end.

In a way you do save him if your charm level is high enough, by convincing him that he is nothing more than a slave to Sovereign/Nazara at which point Saren will thank you and kill himself so he can't do anymore harm.

Given that he kills himself, I'm not certain that counts as 'saving' him. You can also do this with Intimidate, which, I admit, is kind of more entertaining.
