Personality:
+Confident: Haruka always carries herself with an air of authority and will not waver from her beliefs. She tends to have little doubts in her capabilities and speaks with certainty.
+Calm: Very little can perturb Haruka, and things that do are those that hone in on something deeply rooted. Haruka usually has a very clear head under all situations, including most situations where stakes are high.
+Perceptive: Years of experience around people of all sorts have left Haruka with a rather honed sense of perception. She is fairly quick to pick up on any signs of ulterior motives. Whether or not she points things out tends to be a different matter, however.
-Idealistic: While aware of where her limits are, Haruka tends to hold goals that are unattainable. She tends to see more good to people than she should, often leading to trusting in some rather shady individuals. She seems to believe that everyone deserves some kind of chance to prove their worth, no matter their circumstances.
-Unsympathetic: Although an individual seeking to do what she feels is for the better good, Haruka has a hard time really sympathizing for people. While she does acknowledge that circumstances are not always controllable, she is not one to impart pity on just anyone. She is not afraid to cut down anything she perceives as a significant obstacle to her goals.
-Self-Deprecating: Failure is something Haruka takes very poorly. Should someone be injured under her guidance or watch, she blames herself for not being a good enough leader. Should she end up injured herself, she blames herself for not training enough.

Dislike: Kitsune, the weak-willed, people in her personal space

History:
Hailing from a long line of nobility dedicated to championing the common people, Haruka was raised on a similar ideal and spent her childhood with not much time to really be a child. It was admittedly a time of loneliness through the academic lessons, training sessions, and ideology lectures; a routine that would only change on the rare instance that her older brother had come to visit. Although time spent with her brother was short, it was enough for the two siblings to bond in their own...roundabout manner.

Things would change when Haruka was 12, however. At the time, there had been a manner of serial kidnappings within the Yamato clan's dominion, with the majority of victims being children. It was cause for much concern and all able-bodied law enforcement had been put on investigation, including her brother. Months would pass before progress was finally made, only to find an abandoned hideout and many bodies.

Among them was her brother's.

All Haruka knew about the situation then was that her brother had been murdered, with few clues as to who the culprit was. The incident would weigh heavily on her mind for years and would quickly turn to be a point of fixation. Haruka would do everything she could to try and find the truth. Through the help of her family's affiliates, she would be able to conclude that the culprit was a rogue kitsune, driven mad with the pursuit for eternal youth. Following the leads she was able to gather, Haruka would eventually successfully track the kitsune down, but only to be given the slip once again. Time would once again pass and it would be clear that the damned fox was not around the area.

Through discussion with her parents, Haruka would request permission to enlist into the Hoshidan army under the claim of wishing to learn more about the rest of Hoshido and the conditions outside of the kingdom's reaches. After a week of deliberation, the permission would be granted and it would be from here that Haruka continues her pursuit for vengeance for the death of her brother.

Although well-educated, Haruka seems to lack an appreciation for the visual arts. She doesn't really understand its appeal and just accepts that it's something to make your home look fancy at best.
Glimpses into the future hint at a daughter involved in a later conflict between Hoshido and Nohr...
Haruka's older brother's name was Ichirou. He was also a samurai who spent much of his time patrolling and would dote on Haruka excessively to the point that it was usually more comfortable to reject him.
It has been a year since she finally found her brother's killer.
