I used to plush myself, I never attempted a Mamegoma because my room is already flooded with them XD reminds me, I actually do want to buy the one with the huge top-hat that I never got around to. My other half bought me the ridiclously huge like.. 4ft long one about 3 years ago.

I love Mamegoma, I used to think I was alone in the world outside of Japan to love it XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-20 12:21:07 +0000 UTC]

Your plushies are cute
There's a good mamegoma pattern here on dA if you're every interested in making your own.
My room is also flooded with them. I wish I would have the one with the strawberry and the fishing pole
I've never seen the 4ft mamegoma! Do you happen to have a photo or a picture of it?

I even have the mamegoma games They are so cute!
And no, you're not the only one who loves mamegoma outside of Japan

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-20 12:28:22 +0000 UTC]

Ooo I shall have a look for it haha.
I haven't made plushes in a while, been so consumed by drawing X3.
I have the normal colour ones (like shiro, black, brown, half-blue etc) but then a scuba diving one and shell one. Ahhh I forgot about the fishing pole one! So cute X3.
I bought a bento set of them too. and a cup...and slippers...Got a bit carried away with Yahoo Japan Auctions

I wish I had the mamegoma games X3 I got scared of buying them because my Japanese reading sucks!

I don't have a picture of my own right now (I'll take one when I go home. It's huge XD

I have some in animal costumes, some in socks and with a maid costume and a very cute one in an aquarium
I have mine mostly from ebay and DΓΌsseldorf (Germany) from the Japan-shop

They are pretty easy, these games, even if you don't understand a thing ^^ It's just cute to cuddle with them so I still play them sometime

That would be so cool! I would love to see it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-20 12:56:23 +0000 UTC]

They make the cutest squeaks X3 So adorable.
Ohhh! I remember the animal costume ones. And the maid one.
Didn't they make ones for halloween at some point?

I'd have to travel all the way to London (It's a 2 hour train ) to go to a Japan shop that sells them, boo!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-20 13:07:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes, there was a Halloween series to, I remember them. I think there were 5 designs. But I didn't liked this series so much therefore I don't have any.
I just remember, I have two cups of them

I don't go to the Japan shop anymore. It's a 1 hour drive and they raised the prices from expensive to over-expensive

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-20 13:09:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear, that's like a Japanese and Korean food store here. Their pocky used to be like, 80 pence a box, it's now like Β£2. And their ramen used to be 40p a pack and is now Β£1. x_x
Silliness!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-20 13:19:06 +0000 UTC]

The Japanese Store I used to go to had pocky too and the price is 2,70€ now, that's like 2pounds.
And I so loved the strawberry and milk ones. Now I buy the german ones but they don't taste that good.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-20 13:22:46 +0000 UTC]

Jeez! Expensive much x_x Reminds me of the strawberry crunch pocky (the one with bits of strawberry actually on it) and they were like, Β£3.80. Which was stupid.

And yeah, we've got some British rip off ones here called "Mikado."
Not impressed. They aren't as addictive. I'm not the only one finding myself going "Okay stop eating *five seconds later eats another one without realizing it*" right? XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-20 14:13:18 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh I had the crunchy ones too They were so delicious, but even pricier than your pound price.

Yup, we have Mikado too. They're on sale today in our local supermarket and I think I'll buy two white ones but they don't have the addiction potential just like you said.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-20 15:44:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear, that's bad
I haven't actually tried any of the other flavours of Mikado aside the normal. They any good? I love men's pocky It's sooo nice.
Grape tastes too much like plastic for my liking.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-21 10:35:42 +0000 UTC]

The white ones are...hmmm....better than the normal ones but not as addictive as the pocky.

Oh yes, they are yummy! And I love the ones which taste like sweet chestnuts

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-21 10:47:33 +0000 UTC]

Oh? Which ones are they? I don't think I've ever eaten chestnuts XD!
Almost ones are delicious too.
I find banana to be a bit on the sickly side. Nice, but I don't think I could eat more than a few sticks in one go.

So many flavours, so little time (and money to import them XD!!)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-23 13:17:03 +0000 UTC]

When I have a bit of time I can look for the boxcover. I'm sure I've cut it out.
I had banana ones with dark sticks. They were....interesting

When it comes to candies, I wish to live in Japan.

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-23 14:07:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Those exact ones. They were a little sickly. Nice though.

Yahoo Japan Auctions is ridiculous though. They seem to have EVERYTHING.

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-24 18:18:19 +0000 UTC]

I can imagine it
I've never seen one like this before

I never visited Yahoo Japan Auctions. What I have I got from ebay. They even have ROUND mamegomas now
[link] I have this one

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-24 23:35:09 +0000 UTC]

Yahoo Japan Auctions is where I got a lot of my stuff. I have slippers and everything XD. It's where I got the Scuba gear one and all that. I basically won a lot of like, 7 mamegomas.

It's a terrible habit though, you have to use a third party, so you get charged commission and extra shipping. It can get super pricey.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-25 11:42:10 +0000 UTC]

Super pricey is not really the right habit for me I have to pay my medical bills and my studies plus saving for the academy I want to go, no where I WILL go!

But I order a lot at ebay lately I want to start decorating my old phone with beads and rhinestones and a mirror maybe.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-25 12:01:58 +0000 UTC]

Haha damn. I know the feeling. I've been drowning myself in art supplies though and phone charms x_x I guess we all have our vices somewhere!

True about the medical bills, ours gets taken off with our wages alongside our tax here. Strange system, but it's alright I guess.

I hope you can get through to the academy though Would be ace!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-25 13:45:47 +0000 UTC]

The deco thing is not the only 'addiction'. I need yarn and felt for my dolls, I work with clay and: the most expensive obsession - I write. I read tons of novels, even more books about writing. But I can justify it I need all the preparations for the academy
Thanks

Our system is mostly like that too, but we have to pay a certain percentage for hospital stays and medicine. And that can be pretty expensive sometimes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-25 14:03:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh jeez, I know how expensive all the fabric can get. I used to be like "D:" when buying plush materials. I'm really considering getting back into it X3.

Urgh, that really sucks about the medical. I guess the plus is you guys get seen faster because you pay for it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-25 14:31:12 +0000 UTC]

Oh yay, make plushies! Yours are really cute

Nope, that is the 'standart' way of the medical system. Only those how have a private heath insurance get their appointments sooner and other, newer surgery methods. But that is so expensive that we can't effort it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-25 14:33:33 +0000 UTC]

I was gonna do like, pairing ones X3 Well, I'll just wait til I do them, designing a pattern, was thinking about it A LOT last night.

How long did it take you to learn to do yours? I've always looked at them like "I wouldn't even know where to start, damn..." XD

And damn So it's like here, that despite paying it, even if it's slightly different, you still get chucked on a huge waiting list.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-25 14:59:13 +0000 UTC]

Plushie pairing are the best! That was the whole reason why I started making dolls! I couldn't draw yaoi fanarts, so I crocheted them

You're flattering me
My first amigurmi was a mamegoma after a japanese instruction and I thought I would never finish it. That was in September 2010. I made some own critters and around February 2011 I made the first doll.

Yes, long waiting lists and in hospitals you only get the normal doc and not the head physician.
The 'trick' is to have a good family doctor who knows you and who arranges appointments at other doctors when needed. But still it's not easy. The last half year I was fighting with the doctors and the system

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-25 15:49:55 +0000 UTC]

Aww, you could probably draw if you tried :3 I'm still learning <3 It's a fun road.

Just giving praise where it's due :3 I love your amigurmi's <3 They look sooo difficult. I guess the more you make, the more you learn :3

Yeah, it doesn't sound easy We have doctors here, but they just diagnose, are often wrong and then paw you off to the nurse for everything else. It's ridiculous Β¬_Β¬

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-26 10:52:02 +0000 UTC]

I draw for a long time but I never was satisfied and every picture demanded so much time and effort and the outcome was...well...not as good. [link]
Since I write and crochet I pretty much stopped drawing.

Yes, that's true. The more new things I try with crocheting or redo the things which are difficult, the easier it gets

Don't remind me about wrong diagnoses. That seem to be a hobby of most of my former, disinterested doctors. They gave me medicine which damaged more than it helped and never looked for other ways of helping me.
I had to find methods and doctors who were willing to perform the surgery myself. And that definitely isn't the way it should be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CielBendall In reply to Yuki87 [2012-02-27 09:49:59 +0000 UTC]

Damn, it really isn't. Reminds me of my mother she had to have her leg operated on twice for the same problem because they actually didn't do anything close to what they were supposed to the first time.
Glad it wasn't anything like, seriously life threatening with that being the case x_x

I bet! It's the same with drawing. I just keep drawing that which needs improving. You were really good at drawing, boo.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to CielBendall [2012-02-29 13:30:00 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, that's bad. Something like that shouldn't be allowed to happen! How are you supposed to trust a doctor if you can't be sure he is going to do what he should do.

Thank you I never was satisfied with my drawings. Maybe I never loved it enough to work really hard for it ^^
