Description

When you got skin in the game, you stay in the game
But you don’t get a win unless you play in the game
Oh, you get love for it. You get hate for it
You get nothing if you…
Wait for it, wait for it, wait!

God help and forgive me
I wanna build
Something that’s gonna
Outlive me

What do you want, Burr?
What do you want, Burr?
If you stand for nothing
Burr, then what do you fall for?

I wanna be in
The room where it happens
The room where it happens
I wanna be in
The room where it happens
The room where it happens

The Room Where It Happens from the Musical, "Hamilton": www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqG1rY… ;

Poor Dawn can't get a break. Either from her work load or from me drawing her.

During her time as Assistant Mayor, Bellwether was probably more allicated towards the paperwork than participating in council board meetings. Over the years, this treatement angered her. She felt that no matter how hard she tried to make a political or worth while imput into the council's body, she was simply treated as personal secretary who's only good for carrying the bundles of paperwork at a slow pace, only to end up dropping everything. She believed that all the council members, both prey and predator alike, only saw her as a sheep or "easy prey". She believed that she was being kept out of polictial life on purpose and that labeling probably aided in her eventual snap.

After listening to "Hamilton" this summer, the iconic song "The Room Where It Happens" inspired this piece. The song speaks about a narrator, (in this case Burr/Dawn) being on the sidelines whilst the decisions of the country are being made without the people's consent (aka most descions on the Zootopia council/the dinner between Hamilton, Madison and Jefferson). The song fit Dawn's political ambitions and her anger to those who kept her out of "the room where it happens". On another note, this drawing was made with an experimental colour palette found on Pinterest; which may explain why Bellwether looks greener than usual.

Hope you like it!

It is for some people, particularly at the moment. Plus, that is one of the main themes in the song.

Try and have a listen. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but personally, I find it quite good.

I can feel her pain, her anger, stress, frustration, fear, confusion, and self loathing here; not to mention all those incompetent and ungrateful employees, especially Lionheart did not make it any better for her in the least, nor did any of them show concern for her feelings or condition down in the boiler room where her office lies. She must feel that no matter how hard she tries to make something better of herself and for little guys, there was no room in the higher class for "easy prey" like her because of her being a sheep while predators stay at the top. And to think that an assistant mayor of a city would be better treated than this, which she was not. It's no wonder that treatment was the last straw for Dawn. She's so scared and confused right now, she can't find a real way out and runs into some kind of fantasy where prey like her are accepted and never in isolated or mistreated, but the warped fantasy came at a price she would soon regret and create deeper emotional and physical scars.

Very true. The most ironic thing about it is that the council is made up of both prey and predator (as seen in vague shots at City Hall), large and small. The Predator element was the major cause, but the exclusion from political elements also caused her rage; especially if she was trying to stand up for the "little guys".

On a side note, have you listened to Hamilton?

Not exactly I'm afraid. I'll have to look it up later.

I'd highly recommend it; even if Hip Hop is not for you. It wasn't for me but it somehow worked.
