No the background is rice, uncooked rice in a big plastic container
Ferrets love to dig, and uncooked rice it a good way to make them happy
I use also shred paper, you can see it in the end of one of my video [link] enjoy

Yes they are very very fast, it is for that also it is a challenge to capture them and they are always in move too. They are also pet working in Europe (England and France) for chase rabbits, mouses... in the countryside... You see how fast they can be
