Description I was hired by Wootbox France, a geek culture subscription service which sends out themed boxes of mystery items monthly, to draw the promotional illustrations for the month of October 2016. The theme was QUEST. The subjects were video games The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy XV, and Mass Effect. I was purely giddy to have such a theme - and subject matter - to draw. Each of the three drawings had to include one or more main characters within their own universe, kept on separate layers to allow for image resizing and light animations. It was extremely fun to draw something I love so much! Here we have Mass Effect, a game I admit to never having played, and a genre I admit to never having drawn. It was a challenge to say the least and required lots of research for both setting and characters, and how to make a galaxy and lens flares. It was my fist time drawing armor/space suits, too!

You can see the animated process on my behance page here .

I love this. So cute. You did a fantastic job on this. You say you never played Mass Effect, and yet, here, you depict the main male character and his not-so-ancillary partner together, in front of the galaxy map on level 2 of the Normandy SR-2. Something I've never seen before. And, you depicted Shepard in the full set of the Armax Arsenal armor, courtesy of Cipritine Armory from Palaven, the Turian homeworld, and the representation of Turian design. (Bright blue armor lights, no less.) I am blown away. Your research has been rather accurate to this fan [and his headcanon].

Wow! I'm very pleased to hear it! I don't like inaccuracies myself, so I was worried the whole time that without actual experience that I would misrepresent. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Woah, this is amazing! That background especially is fantastic, I couldn't tell if it was a screenshot at first.

Hey, I know you said you never played Mass Effect, but I was wondering all the same ... did you have any thoughts on whether this was supposed to be a scene from the second or the third part of the trilogy?  It kind of looks like it suits the second better, but I just wondered.  You did a neat job, by the way.  I haven't come across too many deviations of Shepard actually using the map.  And, Garrus looks characteristically chill.

It's true, I hadn't played, so I was really nervous about depicting the location accurately. I looked up a bunch of pictures, blogs, and watched as many videos as I could trust as reliable. I eventually picked out from my searches the correct terms and looked for them specifically. I am pretty sure it's the design of the ship from the second game, the Normandy SR-2. Again, I don't know their personalities well (other than from what I've read and barely at all seen), and I was told that the Garrus I'd sketched in the beginning process suited him well - and you could see his outline. Thank you for liking it and asking questions!
