Calliope is a person who is very calm and mature above all else. Her personality is the result of her learning not to overthink trivial things, but also having the intelligence to know when it's appropriate to act her age or help others. Not unlike the qualities of a Slytherin, she finds it useful to have power, and if you owe her a favour, she is not likely to forget it. This being said, she's not a complete megalomaniac, and has a certain amount of compassion towards her fellow students.

Towards her peers and elders, she is amicable and approachable, keeping up a polite disposition. On the other hand, she can be quite reclusive and due to her workaholic nature, she dislikes any conversation based on unnecessary small talk, as she considers them unimportant and a waste of her time. Plus, she tends to forget about people's sensitivities, caring more for logic over the delicate feelings of others, therefore she often comes off as blunt or rude. Though unintentionally, her words can seem snarky or even hurtful due to her frequent sarcastic tone.

Having a thick skin, it is difficult to offend or upset her with insults, as she has too much self confidence to pay attention to such things. In the most likely case, she'll go along with such antics, and playing tease the other person with similar remarks.

Unfortunately, even with her mature exterior and polite attitude, cynicism comes easily to Calliope. Due to her own bitter past experiences and the frightening events occurring in/around school, she finds it difficult to put her full trust in someone, even adults who are there to guide them. The thought of spending her life in solitude may be unpleasant, but that doesn't stop her from keeping people at an arm's length. While she may appear to take a liking to a select few people, she has difficulty acknowledging the sincerity of their actions, and continues to expect bad things from them.

Following this, based on private research, she believes that she is able to analyse people's behaviors, in this regard she is quite presumptuous. In any case, Calliope has quite a sharp eye from subtle things like mood, and takes an interest in the pathological troubles of others.

█ BIOGRAPHY

◆ History:
A few years prior to Calliope’s birth, and nearing the end of the Second Wizarding War, Calliope’s mother, Amaryllis (shortened to Mary), had temporarily fled the UK with her parents in favor of a much less chaotic Barcelona. While the young woman was certainly terrified of leaving behind her sister and grandparents, their lack of funds resulted in a momentary divide in the family. These worries must have been painstakingly obvious to those around her, because whilst traversing the streets, she came into contact with Calliope’s future father, Felix, who consoled her and showed concern for her well-being. After that, Felix came to visit Mary daily, and they spent their days getting to know each other and slowly falling in love.
Months passed by much quicker with Felix’s presence, and by May of 1998, the war had ended. Mary became distraught at the thought of leaving her new-found lover, but as luck would have it, though his home country was Spain, he had actually been visiting from England, and was in fact a former Hogwarts student (Spain lacks their own wizarding school). Ecstatic at this turn of events, the pair returned home, abandoning their own small flats for a house they could share together permanently. By the following year, Calliope was born, and the two finally got married months later.
Throughout her childhood, Calliope emitted a strong presence. She was a loud, extroverted and prideful child who always selfishly demanded attention from those around her. In school, she was often put in detention for her disruptive behavior. And, living in a house that had been converted into a cafe, she was often scolded for trying to bother the customers.
When her younger sister was born, the now 6 year old Calliope developed a strong sense of protectiveness over her family, younger siblings especially. It was around this time that she had also began to show her first signs of magic. During breakfast time, with both parents busy running the cafe, Calliope was being freely bothered by her younger brother, Leo. Having no patience to spare at such a young age, she snapped at him, and the food on the table was set alight. Luckily for her, nobody got hurt, and the damaged caused was easily fixed by her parents (who were given a huge shock by the whole ordeal).
At age 11, Calliope received her acceptance letter in the post, immediately going to brag to her younger brother and sister (who were very confused by all the excitement). Soon after the delivery, the cafe was closed early, and the family went out to buy her equipment for the upcoming term.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Calliope was instantly sorted into Gryffindor thanks to her loud personality, profound bravery and recklessness. Of course, she was delighted to be put in what she assumed was the best house, and she immediately settled down, the pangs of homesickness soon leaving her. Things were not easy in the beginning, though, she had yet to realize how overbearing her personality was, and often drove away any possible friends.
In her second year, her brother enrolled in Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Much to her displeasure, he appeared to befriend people with a lot more ease. Being the older sibling, Calliope was overcome with pride, and even though she spent the year alone once again, she had learned to get over the pain of solitude.
Years three to four continued in the same manner, but it was in this time that she came to realize where she was going wrong. For these years, she focused on her classes, and also the suppression of her worst traits.
