Shannon comes from a wealthy family that is extremely dysfunctional. Her father died at an early age and left her at the mercy of her uncle, who wanted to exploit Shannon's vast inheritance, but was unable to do so because he was not executor of the will. Shannon's funds were made available to her when she graduated from college. She changed her name, moved away from her uncle and never looked back.
Shannon is very critical and can be downright cruel to people. She is difficult to be around because of her acidic tongue and hostile personality. What people don't know is that she uses her hostility to keep people at arms' length so she's not hurt again. However, Shannon finds herself at the business end of the mind of a very smart, very enigmatic and very dispassionate arctic fox named Alisdair Daughterty.
Shannon has no idea what an adversary she has found for herself.

Not a rivalry ... more of a person who at first glance just rubs you the wrong way, and once their mouth opens, you just want to hurt them in every way possible. Continuation, see demon-bound.
