A gift for my friend's cousin, his wife, and their baby!
I learned how to make that checkerboard-type background pattern a while ago, but had never really gotten a chance to use it in a piece. I'm glad it worked here!

Haha, it... sort of is...? But to make the whole thing a little neater, it actually involves cutting out strips of paper, gluing them down, cutting everything crosswise, layering them, gluing them down again, and then trimming off the extra border. And THEN you have a checkerboard!! It takes less time overall, but it's more labor-intensive. More than I remembered, actually.... XD
