Description The Neverlight claims another soul. Lost in an alien and unforgiving world where the sun never rises and almost every aspect of wildlife hungers for the flesh of the unwary, be it flora or fauna; she will make do with what she can find, what lands on her head and the peculiar accoutrements given to her as way of an apology. She doesn't even have a name to her name. Except the one the Allosaurus gave her. Which won't do.

Neverlight is an experimental free-form RPG wrung out of the febrile mind of Patrick Thomas King © 2013

Your pencil work and shading is lovely as usual. I think it's just me but putting round objects next to joints, or where we associate circle on a body when it isn't encompassed by the figures anatomy always makes the anatomy look off, even when it technically isn't. You have to keep them really separate or within one another, your pug dog drawing is a good example because even though the round elements of the dog are pretty close to her it doesn't interrupt the figure and it works with the rest of the ladies curves and complements them.

It's nice to see a chubbier girls as drawings, nobody ever does them . Composition wise it's good, I like the expression and the weight distribution--Its got some meat on it--I'm trying not to pull a weird face by stating the obvious-- And your cheque is in a brown envelope next to the guy with the wonky eye and the dog named struen at St Edmunds stop.

Woohoo, crit! Thank you so much for posting! I know exactly what you mean, I kept getting thrown when I was drawing; the rope over her torso was driving me crazy. It still doesn't look quite right to me but I've experimented with it hugging her contours more and it looked even weirder! Since you posted this crit I noticed her left elbow was 2-3 inches too long/low so I've done a quick liquify fix in PS (lazy) and I think it looks better now, but I'm tempted to drag the sketchbook out to correct it by hand.

As for chubby girls, I simply like variety. I acknowledge I draw women a lot more than men so the idea of repeating the same body-shape over and over is anathema to me especially since I tend to find all manner of sizes pleasing to the eye. While there's plenty of scope for fun with the waif-like anime girls toting massive swords and guns, I also like the representation of meatier warrior girls.

Hello, what surprises me in this drawing is the teapot into the character. This leaves penserqu'il is a distant descent of survivors of a "modern" era (probably descendants of English ... (joke)).

The world of Neverlight is basically a crazy dimension full of incongruities and anachronisms. Creatures, peoples and items from all over space and time fall through, though things might not work in the way they were intended. So characters often pick up bizarre items on their travels. Or get hit in the head with them...

Your pencils are seriously beautiful...soft yet refined.

The little bits of wear and tear on her clothing and items are a wonderful touch, as well as the life of the local flora.

Thank you; I take a lot of time with my pencil rendering so it's always nice to get feedback on it! As for the wear and tear, I just think people look more interesting or tell more of a story when their clothes (as such) aren't immaculate.

I do have one question for you, from one pencil lover to another, what method do you use for scanning your pencil work? I've been trying a few, but I always seem to loose the most delicate lines. It's annoys me to no end having to tinker with the level adjustment to save what I can.

I love her expression especially, a mix of annoyance and determination.

Thank you! That's pretty much what I was going for; she's stoic in the face of extreme weirdness.
