The coloring is good, it makes it seem like he's glowing. You should consider a background that works with that as well, maybe a color gradation around the edges?

Considering the piece, I was considering going from white to a light blue, to a darker blue just at the edges. I do that one a lot, and I have an example of it here ([link] ) and here ([link] ) using different mediums. I really think it would add to the piece.
