Description
Recently I’ve been rather preoccupied with ‘Alice in Wonderland’, because I’ve found the game “Alice: Madness returns” (sequel to “American McGee’s Alice”). I’ve always preferred the darker side of fiction and I particularly like it when Alice and Wonderland joins me in that area. The art involved in Alice: Madness returns is quite extensive. I would buy the game just to ‘stand’ and stare at the scenery, honestly. So as you can imagine, I really want that game!
But for anyone who knows the game, you can probably see this isn’t that Cheshire Cat. When drawing this I tried to channel Tim Burton, as his version of the Cheshire cat is pretty much my favourite (though that could be down to my love of turquoise). It doesn’t really show much of him but you can pretty much identify Cheshire on his face alone, since that’s sometimes all you can see of him.

Anyway, the Cheshire cat is one of my favourite characters (as I can’t choose between him and the mad hatter), and were I more clever and able to grin without looking ridiculous I’d probably emulate him (the Tim Burton version at least). I’m not sure why I made him grin at you from a hole in the wall/screen/whatever. I guess if I wanted to cover my tracks and make it seem planned I could BS and say it represented the rabbit-hole Alice fell through.
But as you can probably tell from how that statement was set up, I’m not going to cover my tracks to seem omniscient about my art.

Oh, in case you were wondering, the title is a play on “Peeking Tom”, so because there are ‘Tom cats’ and this was the ‘Cheshire cat’ I thought I’d make it… that. He heh…
