Been working on a lot o’ gigs lately and I haven’t had too much time to do any drawing for myself that isn’t really intense portfolio pieces, so I thought it’d be fun to do this meme and draw some of my favorite video game characters!

We have…

1. Luigi- If the game has Luigi in it, I am going to playing as him. You have no say in it. Seriously, I will beat you to death with your own Wiimote if you try to pick Luigi before I get to him.

2. Malon (Ocarina of Time)- When I was a kid, I had the BIGGEST crush on Malon. Everything about her seemed so sweet and I’m a real sucker for the whole brown-haired-farmgirl-thing. (Still have a crush on her…Don’t tell Aubrey)

3. Link (Ocarina of Time)- I know, I know, I’m double-dipping with games here. Ocarina of Time is at the top of my list and I don’t see how I could do any better than the hero of my favorite game. This version of Link is by far the coolest.

4. Rival/Blue/Gary Oak/Gary-Mutha-Effin’-Oak (Pokemon Red/Blue)- I had the Blue version of Pokemon when I was a kid (and a clear-purple Gameboy Color that you could see all the technical guts in) because I felt like it was more punk than Red. I always had a crippling fear that after completely exhausting my Pokemon in a gauntlet of trainer battles, my rival/Gary was waiting to ambush me before I could get to a Pokecenter.

5. Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet)- You can dress him any way you want, make him smile or grimace, throw peace signs or angry fists, make him jump over hot coals, collect bubbles, drive a car or swing from spongy cubes like Tarzan. Not only cute, but hours can completely vanish just trying to decide what you’re going to make him wear.

6. Mewt Randell (Final Fantasy Tactics: Advanced)- FF Tactics is a hugely popular game and I love it just as much as the next guy, but I feel that FFT: Advanced gets the short end of the stick because it was a portable. FFTA is one of my favorite RPGs of all time and Mewt is the perfect example of an unappreciated character of an underappreciated game. No simple villain, Mewt challenges you the entire time you play the game, making you wonder if you’re still doing the right thing by defeating him.

7. Protoman/Blues (Megaman series)- Good guy? Bad guy? What are his motives? Why does he care? Why does a robot need a scarf? All of these things are widely-known now a days, but he wouldn’t be Protoman if he wasn’t standing with his arms crossed in the shadows mysteriously.

8. Turret (Portal series)- A creepy “hellooo…” is often followed by the sound of machine guns blaring. At the same time, it is absolutely hilarious to knock one of these little guys over and watch how easily they self-destruct. So many good quotes from a humorous “I’m on fire.” to a chilling “There you are.”
