When the first miniature ammo nano-fabricator was invented during mid-design phase in 3502, the designers worked feverishly to integrate it with all possible designs. This made the design extremely valuable as a medium self propelled anti-aircraft gun, but when the short yet viscous war with the Hellirion Rebellion in 3506 happened, it showed several flaws in the design of many Terran Federal Army SPAAGs. When the first prototype rolled out of the factory in 3508, people were surprised that it had four 88mm RLACs instead of the initially proposed two. This was stated to be the lesson that was learned with projectile based systems in the Hellirion Rebellion: RoF is needed more than hitting power when one can flood the skies with R-Planes that can resist laser and plasma AAA fire.
The four RLACs are of a special design using 30kilo rounds at the speed of 14km/s with a staggering rate of fire of 20 rounds a second but can replenish half as much with the nano-fabrication system that was put into the tank. This also made the shielding system weaker to make room for all the components of the nano-fabrication system. With only a crew of one (who only drives and designates targets), the entire turret is freed to be a series of ammo feeds, ammo storage, and sensor systems. These vehicles are usually around with armored divisions and SHSAM units for close mobile AAA support, and with it's heavy armor it can stay in the general vicinity of frontline combat where previous systems could not.
With only two HVMSAMs for medium range air defense, 'Zeus' crews use them to take down a 'cloud' of enemy R-Planes. A salvo of 10 of these missiles would ruin a R-Plane swarm's day, especially in conjunction with the Hellion's long-range missile support.
