Yay, glad to see you entered the contest!~ (I only just now found the time to go through the group's deviations)
This is a great rendition of the original piece, you captured the main idea of the picture very well
I think that the only things that could be fixed are making the eye a little more open (it sort of looks half-asleep) and also try messing with some new pencil strokes and such to make it look more like fir and less like a solid blob~ ^^
Drawing animals is usually difficult because of the hair/fur...so don't worry too much about it
