Very nice job! I fail at drawing pokemon, but you did great! 
I think you should try to take it a step further, and maybe try adding some shading and possibly a background...maybe make it using an attack like flamethrower or flame wheel...but that's just a suggestion ^^ Don't be intimidated by backgrounds or more effects, if you avoid doing things like that then you'll never actually get any practice with them

Just try to pace yourself, don't expect to get anything right away. Just try looking for a reference or tutorial of what you want to practice
