Description

Got another eeveelution design for you done for me by the wonderful ! This time a Steel type. I decided to make this one a feline like Espeon. You'll find out why as you read. I also did some research on the metal used, which you will see as well. Hope you guys like it.

Name: Titaneon

-Titaneon gets its name from its fur. Each individual hair of its fur is coated in titanium. In my research of titanium, I learned that titanium does not break (or not very easily) from being bent multiple times. I picked titanium because it would allow Titaneon's fur to remain flexible like real fur and not cut people when they pet a Titaneon.

-One reason I made Titaneon a feline is that they have a similar reaction when they are threatened. Cats will hiss and their fur on their back will stand up straight. Similarly, Titaneon's fur will stiffen but, unlike a cat, will lay flat. Since their fur is coated in titanium, their fur becomes armor, essentially. If you would like to see what Titaneon looks like with its fur flat: [Battle]

Type: Steel

Species: Metal Coat Pokemon

Ability: Titanium Armor- Reduces physical moves by 50% and Fire type moves by 25%, and makes the user immune to the Corrosion ability.

-Thanks to my friend MorningSunEspeon for pointing out something to me. In the case of a physical Fire type move being used, only the fire type resistance will apply. When metal is exposed to enough heat, it will soften. A little fun fact for why this is the case.

-I learned titanium is highly resistant to corrosion (higher than most common steels), even from sea water which is known for being unkind to many materials (especially metals). Titanium also has a higher melting point than steel (which means it takes more heat to melt titanium than steel, for those who don't know).

Hidden Ability: Thermal Armor- When struck by a fire type attack, the user takes 25% less damage and their body becomes hot. After being activated, any pokemon that physically strikes or is physically struck by the user gets a burn status effect. A water type move will put it out, though.

-Addition: Since Thermal Holds the heat, the user cannot receive the Burn status effect. And a strategy that can make use of this: Give Titaneon a Flame Orb. Titaneon will not be affected by the burn but the Flame Orb will cause Thermal Armor to activate. And if they are hit with a water type move, the ability only deactivates for that turn as the held Flame Orb will reactivate it next turn.

New Moves:

Spike Armor- User forms armor of spikes that damage any pokemon that physically strikes the user and increases the damage of physical contact moves.

-Older and/or more experienced Titaneon's can control their fur to form spikes instead of flat armor. Here's a pic of it: [Spike Armor]

Blade Tail- The user shapes their tail into a sharp blade that has a high chance of a critical.

Damage: 80

Type: Steel

PP: 10

Accuracy: 90%

-An even more advanced move involving control over their fur. I must give some credit here. This move was inspired by 's Steel type eeveelution idea, Paladeon . Thanks for the inspiration for the "Blade Tail" move! Ironically, we had similar ideas for our designs, namely the "metal fur".

Evolution Method: Level up Eevee while holding a Titan Rock Shard or while near a Titan Rock (like the mossy or icy rocks). A "Titan Rock" is just a piece of titanium that is raw, unrefined.

Base Stats:

HP: 65

A: 65

D: 110

SA: 60

SD: 130

S: 95

Fun Fact: Titanium is easily scratched and they don't come out unless you polish it...and cats are known to groom themselves often; another reason why I made Titaneon a feline.

Here is the shiny version: [Shiny]

Dex Entries:

1) Titaneon's fur is covered in titanium that stiffens and lays flat when they are threatened forming a natural armor.

2) Though Titaneon's fur is coated in titanium, it is just as flexible as normal fur.

3) Titaneon can control its fur to form a spiky armor instead of smooth fur to deter threats.

4) Titaneon groom themselves often to keep their metallic fur clean and free of scratches.

5) Titaneon's fur is covered in titanium which gives it a better resistance to fire.

6) Titaneon's fur is covered in titanium which is highly resistant to corrosion.

At long last, he posts it! You already know Titaneon's a success with me, bud, being a feline and all.

The whole idea of using titanium for its coat/fur is very clever, and it shows in your description. Reading through, it was definitely fitting for this species to be cat-based; the whole grooming-to-smooth-out-scratches thing, fur standing up when threatened.

Both abilities are very interesting; it's hard to decide which is better. Default ability is great all-around, having three benefits, while the Hidden only has the two. HOWEVER, sustaining a burn will cause damage over time, so there's that. Out of interest, say Titaneon's struck by a move like Flare Blitz with Titanium Armour, is that a total reduction of 75%? Cause that's OP!

Y'know the sad thing here: the stats. I get the impression that if this were a real Mon, people wouldn't use it that much - because it's a tank like Umbreon - opting for a fast, hard-hitter Vee like Jolteon. Still, that doesn't stop Titaneon from being awesome, so great job here, to both you and Eldrige!

I know, right! XP

Thanks! I realized later that both espeon and titaneon have an ability related to their fur after rereading some info on espeon. How ironic.

That's a good question. Thanks for asking. To keep things simple, only the fire type resistance will apply, and there is a scientific reason for it (when I thought about it): If metal is heated long enough and with a high enough temperature, it will soften. So that would give a reason as to why only the fire type resistance would apply. Thanks again for asking that. I'll be sure to add it to the description.

Also, tell me what you think of this addition to the hidden ability. Because Thermal Armor holds the heat, titaneon cannot receive the "burn" status. And a little secret with that: If Titaneon holds a Flame Orb, the Flame Orb cannot cause a burn to them, but it will activate Thermal Armor. And A water type move will only deactivate the ability for that turn as Flame Orb will just activate it again the following turn. What do you think about this addition? I don't want it to be over powered but I want it to be interesting.

Well, I don't care much if it's a competitive pokemon or not. I'm just trying to make interesting, well thought designs for potential eeveelutions. And thank you for all the complements. I'm glad you think the idea is "awesome".

By the way, I have recently (like Monday recent) come up with an idea......for a Fighting type eeveelution that I am SUPER stoked to commission Eldrige for. Don't worry though, I'm gonna take care of Drageon Winged Form first. But I will say one thing about the fighting type idea: A fast hard-hitting approach may not be the best course of action against it.
