Legends speak of the greater demon lords that weave the fated threads of our world. The existence of these creature is shrouded in myths and fables passed down through generations. Whether or not they serve a benevolent or malevolent purpose is unknown to the mortal souls of our realm. Still, their ethereal presence creeps into our world and may steer our fates to some unseen destination. They are the council that spins the threads of destiny. They are the Araknyos Weavers.

The duality of living beings is a concept that has existed since the first hints of life emerged. Even as life evolved, growing more complex, the struggle between light and darkness has persisted. No bearing allegiance to any one element, the enigmatic Weaver named Alteros lurks within the ethereal planes. This demon moves with the ebb and flow of the two concepts of duality and has rarely been witnessed. Some theorize that Alteros serves a sort of judge, weighing the actions of good and evil. Others suggest that the one with no allegiance merely serves to observe, documenting the struggles of light and dark for some eternal record. One final school of thought believes the Weaver to be the last remnants of a god of creation, the final guardian to a plane of either redemption or damnation. One things is certain: Alteros remains a mystery and nothing shy of a threat to existence itself would cause the creature to reveal itself and cast the die on the fate of all.

Alteros' emblem was a rare example of asymmetry in my design work. Some have asked why I prefer to create symmetrical designs and I think it's mostly an aesthetic choice. This creature's themes of light and dark seemed lend themselves well to the idea of a two-toned design. I went in to re-draw the left side to create a greater contrast. The blade-like legs were something else that's become a reoccurring theme in the Weaver designs. I like the idea that the limbs of these spider demons are very different from what we see in the natural world, something that helps support their ethereal concept I guess.
