Description My examples for the Homecoming Dance challenge going on at GLAM! . We have a series of events going on right now, called Fall Spectacular 2014 . Right now, only these three ladies are attending the dance, so go design your entry to keep them company.

I have more sketches that will eventually make it into dolling form. But I'm hoarding them till they get done. Not really .Β These three are dresses 5, 7 and 8.

I've used several programs, but I mostly use Photoshop. However, I use the very basic tools (brushes, eraser and the smudge tool), so you can get the same results in other programs like GIMP , FireAlpaca and Paint.NET .

The one on the left is the only one I'd let my girls wear.Β

I understand. Since this was a request for a forum where most people are young adults or adults already, I kept picturing adult women when designing the dresses. I can see how some of these designs may be too much for a teenager.

Oh I wasn't talking about my daughters. Haven't got any of them yet. I was talking about the women whom share I share my life and home with. I'm rather old fashioned when it comes to modesty, but I showed the image to them and all of them liked dress #5 (the one on the left). Could you do a larger image of that one?

Oh, that's a good mindset when it comes to clothing. I think dress 5 is the winner, then I'm thinking of drawing bigger images of all of them, as a way to practise drawing people and clothes. I will need time to do that, seeing as I'm not used to working big.

Gosh, your dolls are beautiful. I love how soft they are. The one on the left is particularly lovely, out of the 3, she's my favorite.

That was the idea: making them sickeningly sweet. Your favourite was the first I made, so she's the one responsible for the soft look in all of them. I did take advantage of the darker lines on the right one, because you can't take black away from me But I made her hair extra soft, so I guess it counts. Even if she's not so pink.

"You can't take black away from me"
Ditto! People say, that you shouldn't paint with black, or outline with black, but who are they to dictate what I can and can't do?
As far as I'm concerned, rules in the art world were made to be broken. I say, if black is there, and is useful for providing contrast, I say use it!
I use black in my work all the time. But shh, don't tell anybody! I think black works well in your favor, looks good against your shading style.

I sketch in black and use it to add some dark shadows so I don't have to use more colours. You know how terrified of colour I am. At this size, it helps make certain parts darker without much work and also to shape certain parts. It's not perfect, but it works for me.

All my dolls have black in them. I just learnt to hide it better in the more recent ones

Terrified of color? You?? Pshaw. For someone who is terrified of color, you use it rather well!
