Description Here is a new project, a flash platform game.
It's still a work in progress, you can move, jump and crounch with the directionnal pad. Shoot with ctrl button.
You can increase the jetpack power with End button.
My character is based upon my walkcylce studies and is fully skinnable with bitmaps.

Remember to click on the flash object to give it focus in order to move the character.

Keys :
Up............Jump
Down.......Crounch
Left..........Walk left
Right........Walk Right
Ctrl..........Shoot

Cool this actually showed me a new function on my computer i never knew how to do, when you press ctrl, alt + direction it rotates your screen. But cool game nonetheless.

Yeah I've play N, wonderful and It Must be bitmapData hitTest
The collision tests are made on alpha channel pixel by pixel between two bitmaps (according to the fact you can transform your vectorial drawings dynamicaly into bitmaps )

i really like it, ive tried to make platformers a few times but ive always given up. if i may make a suggestion: i think that the landing area of the character should be widened. it took me forever to travese the portion of the map with tiny platforms because i kept wrongly guessing the landing area of the hero. because of the way he jumps (with feet tucked back and body leaning forward) i tend to assume he'll make the jump if the torso clears the edge. one idea you could implement is to preform a hittest with an object around the chest area and give him a landing animation where he just barely makes the edge and must pull himself up onto the ledge.

I'm recoding the hittests with bitmapData capacities, it'll be more efficient. I'm testing slopes variations too (to rotate feets according to map slopes).

that'll be awesome when you get it up and running. by chance, have you played N? its built in flash aswell so it may be of some inspiration (or just fun to muck around in. [link] ).
bitmap data you say? hmm. i may have to investigate that, it sounds much more high-tech and acurate than the stupid square shaped hittest bubble that flash normally gives you.

i would think about changing the use of the end button cause on laptops the end button is right over the arrow keys and it is very ocward pushing them at the same time other then that great starte

That's just a way to test different velocities
It'll be only possible to increase it by winning power ups throughout the game

looks brilliant so far.. really great
the character is well done except his jet pack can get too powerful if you press END too many times, w hich makes him just fly through everything, and end up so high up that yeah.. it takes ages for him to get back

Thanks, yes, hittests collisions have to been improved, and jetpack power to be cap I'm also working on gravity and friction, I hope it'll be not too bugged

Apparently falling over the left edge is a big thing. XDD Poor guy never hit solid ground...

I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing, but it seems to be coming along well so far. Are you planning to get really in-depth with this or is it mostly an experiment?

Hehe, y'aura de la couleur oui, je créé mes persos en tant que models "skinnables", donc chaque partie du corps de chaques persos (là y'en a qu'un) sera colorié sous toshop Les décors aussi ^^

Crusader j'ai bien aimΓ© aussi comme tous les jeux d'Origin en gΓ©nΓ©ral (Ultima 8 rhaaa...) Et c'est vrai qu'il y a une ressemblance avec le perso
