Description It's been a while since my last Zutara submission.

I finished Woman Worth Ten Coppers, by Morgan Howell, a few weeks back. It's an excellent read and one of the few books in the "serious" fantasy genre that is both strong in story and in writing . It's hard to find well-written fantasy books these days (I'm too harsh)

Here's a brief summary if anyone is interested: [link]

The entire time I pictured Zuko and Katara as Honus and Yim. So here's my cross-over.

Yim (Katara) is Honus' (Zuko's) slave. He has bought her for ten copper pieces to carry his pack. The whole book is mostly about them trekking through this desolate and god-forsaken (literally) world, so they talk a lot. Their personalities are so alike to Zuko and Katara, it was easy to imagine.

Zuko doesn't have his scar because Honus has his face tattooed. Yim also wears blue later in the book and heals (see, Katara!).

I have a sucky vision of the kind of clothing they all wear so I just made it up. I made Katara's/Yim's to be as close to a tunic as possible. Zuko's I just pulled out my ass. Something from Saiunkoku?

BG is sad attempt at BG.

I read Woman Worth Ten Coppers a few years ago at your suggestion and realized recently that I never got around to thanking you for it. That trilogy is now one of my favorites.

You did it. This picture got me to read that book (which I have just finished). I LOVE IT! Just bought the next two. Hopefully they will come soon.

I also imagined Zutara throughout the entire book. The characters were so similar it was scary <.< >.>

Ok so I had to come back because I finally finished the trilogy. Thanks to you, I have had the pleasure of reading some of the greatest books ever written. Seriously, I love the whole series and even cried a lil at the end (cuz I'm a punk like that lol). Thanks again for your creation and recommendation.

Hey, not a problem! And I'm so glad you enjoyed the books. I've to admit, I'm still afraid to read the last book, so I have no idea how it ends yet. The ending of the second really made me wary of where the story can possibly lead. Ah, hopefully I get around to it this year.

Beautiful work! This made me want to read the book (which I just finished today; not an hour ago, even) and my only criticism is that Honus/Zuko wore blue. I really like the style you drew, and Zuko's origins in the firenation totally make the red make sense, but if you were going to be true to the book, it'd be blue.
Not that that matters, really, because this is PERFECT.

LOL, thanks!! Yes, I had a long thought about what they were going to look like, but I decided to be more Avatar-influenced, rather than stick to the book. As detailed the book is with their clothing, I had a longer appreciation for Avatar's visuals and so it is more pronounced in all my cross-overs

I wrote down the title of that book when you first submitted this artwork, but only in the past three days did I finally get around to nabbing the first two books in the series from my library.
I just wanted to say thank you. that is some of the most excellent literature I've come across, ever.

Oh my gosh, isn't it just?! I love how he weaves the story, even though it is quite morbid at times. I'm putting off reading the last book. I'm so afraid of how it will all end =/

And you're more than welcome. It makes me so glad to know other people are discovering such a great story and enjoy it as much as I do.

I agree about serious fantasy being hard to find, and you're right! These characters fit so well!!!
Also try reading Alison Croggon's Pellinor books, starting with the Gift. One of the best books I've read in a while. Also a little bit feminist xD
Katara/Maerad crossover? x

zar33n In reply to TheStoryNeverEnds [2011-01-30 00:20:44 +0000 UTC]

LOL, I sometimes see Zuko as Sasuke

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheStoryNeverEnds In reply to zar33n [2011-01-30 06:15:35 +0000 UTC]

I can kind of understand that comparison. But I think Zuko is more like Gaara than Sasuke. Seriously, crappy past, daddy issues, emo guy, right down to the scar on the left side of the face!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zar33n In reply to TheStoryNeverEnds [2011-02-01 03:41:44 +0000 UTC]

Hahahha!! Hmm...interesting point there. In terms of importance in plot, I think Zuko fits more, but personality-wise, you're right. I'm so over Naruto, though. Why can't it end already?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheStoryNeverEnds In reply to zar33n [2011-02-01 05:07:49 +0000 UTC]

I agree; Naruto is obscenely long, and makes it hard to commit to watching it, whereas as other, shorter animes like Wolf's Rain and Death Note are easier to watch, because they take a few weeks at the most, as opposed to FOR-FRIGGIN-EVER.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zar33n In reply to TheStoryNeverEnds [2011-02-03 23:29:17 +0000 UTC]

IKR?! Seriously. Animes like FMA and Code Geas, at least they end. Or they feel like they're going somewhere. Ugh, can't stand anime that drag. I can commit to other things, thanks. The ones that actually end, they're much more momorable, honestly.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheStoryNeverEnds In reply to zar33n [2011-02-04 07:39:55 +0000 UTC]

So true! I'm fairly new to anime, so I haven't seen much of it. But I do love Avatar: the Last Airbender. And it was easier to commit to because it wasn't OBSCENELY long.

zar33n In reply to TheStoryNeverEnds [2011-02-04 17:07:41 +0000 UTC]

Right, right! Well there are extremely well written, brilliant pieces of short anime shows that are so much more poignant because they're brief. I wish you luck since there are so much out there to weed through If you ever want some recommendations, I have a few!
