: D I likes it. Looks like she/he sat down long ago, and for long enough that a tree grew right up through him/her.

damn good use of water colors there, one of the few mediums which I experience a terrible level of difficulty with, well done.

zarathus In reply to Eotross [2008-10-18 07:30:59 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Yeah, watercolors can be pretty tedious to work with at times. Painting on mdf board makes it even more difficult >>

Watercolour and MDF? That's not a combination I'd ever have thought of! Did you treat it first or paint straight on? The colours are muted but that lends it an organic feel that works with the theme. 'fail' might have been a bit harsh

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zarathus In reply to drakhenliche [2008-10-17 05:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Just paint straight on it. I'm not sure what made me think painting watercolors on mdf might be a good idea, I guess it can produce good results, but it makes the painting process a lot more difficult.
Thank you.

It's a trite expression but you don't know until you try It certainly lends a unique feel though I can imagine it being a bugger to work on.

id imgine a tree growing outta your back wud hurt somewat... unlless u were a stone dragon and then trees and moss growing on u wudnt bother very much... i love the red shades

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zarathus In reply to FREAKIN-InSaNiTy [2008-10-17 05:18:54 +0000 UTC]

It probably would hurt for most creatures D: Can't say for the dragon though. It might be secretly made of stone, and have a deceptive appearance. Who knows!
Thanks muchly.

nargus [2008-10-13 18:21:31 +0000 UTC]

The coloring is good to me, but i'm more interested in the story behind the picture... Does the dragon still alive? Is he cursed? Or dead with eyes wide open? He looks too young to me an ancient dragon fallen asleep... it looks like the trees have taken root into him already...poor dragon *sniffs*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zarathus In reply to nargus [2008-10-17 05:16:29 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure of what's going on here, or how it happened. I don't think the dragon is necessarily unhappy with its state of being though. It might enjoy sitting there looking out across the ocean.
But its entirely up to peoples' interpretation of it.
Thanks!

I tink it looks quite beautiful honestly deareh <3 The trees fit the season no? I love how they are coming off of the dragon, trees are one of my favorite things in nature and a pain to do.

What? Why are you telling us this looks ugly? I mean it practically looks like someone took a picture of dragon creature, not painted it.
And you're sooo damn skilled with watercolors.

zarathus In reply to darkNarel [2008-10-17 05:08:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks muchly. I was mainly disappointed with how the shading/lighting came out. Painting on mdf board makes things very difficult D: But I'm happy you like it.
