If that's sunlight coming into the throne room, doesn't that mean there are holes in the ceiling...?

XD this is hilarious. i don't think those are holes i think they are artificial sunlight to remind asgore of the surface just like the light from the windows in judgement hall.Β

Actually, I think they are real sunlight.
This place is extremepy close to the Barrier, just right below it, actually.
Plus, when Asriel and Chara were alive, they most likely lived in New Home when Chara fell down. In the Ruins, where Frisk falls down, the only light comes down on the flowers, otherwise there's only darkness. In the opening cinematic, there's plenty of light where Chara fell down, including many flowers and several pillars as seen in New Home.
Anyway, the family lived in New Home, which means Chara fell down in he throne room and Asriel found them and brought them back home.
If Chara had fallen down in the Ruins, then Asriel would have had to walk them ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE UNDERGROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAVERN, which I'm pretty sure this little boss monster boy didn't go all by himself. While monsters generally don't attack each other, let alone the prince, he could still fall down a cliff or step on spikes or something. So I think Chara fell down in New Home, so they only had a short walk back to the king and queen.
Which means there is a hole in the ceiling in the Ruins, and there are holes (or at least one anyway) in the ceiling in the throne room of New Home. One at the beginning and one at the end.
The golden flowers also come from the Surface, so they probably need sunlight to survive and thrive, not sure about the flowers in the dumps, I think Undyne says they appeared recently and didn't disappear or something?
Either way, it means there is more than one hole to fall down into the caverns through. Some of the humans could have fallen in the throne room, like Kindness here, but since Toriel talks about "the others" I'd assume almost all of them fell through the same hole as Frisk did.
But Chara fell through a hole in New Home. That's what I think.

Maybe human curiosity could help. Explore the unexplored, even if it's a hole leading to certain death. Maybe there is something interesting in it...? Maybe something like the Darwin Award?
