I love drawing Gordon with his ponytail. It will always be canon in my heart.
As for the content of the comic, I definitely experienced this while playing HL1. It's a shame you can't just rescue a whole group of them through the whole game, just a whole army of adorable old scientist generics.

I felt bad about that all the time too, which made it worse when you reached the points they wouldn't follow you past no matter how hard you tried.

Scientist: "Why are you leaving me here? Have I really been that much of a burden?"

I believe it's from his early character concept designs. He was originallyΒ "Ivan the Space Biker" and had a mondo awesome beard. Other designs had helmets and ponytails. I guess they just used the model they had since the player would never see Gordon at all.Β
