how do you get the jewels to sit in the shell?

Sorry for the late reply sweetie. The drill bit is diamond tipped and can be purchased from any good hardwear store. I think I paid about £4 to £5 ($8 to $10)
The actual Drill cost around £25 ($50), it's like a dremel only its the brand made by the hardware store I visit. When drilling remember to wear protective eyegear and especially in the case of shells they must be drilled under water....not too much though or u'll electrocute yourself, lol. But just enough to cover the shell as the shell gets VERY HOT and the dust generated is harmful to the lungs if breathed in.

I either put the stones down the middle or I drill the shell underwater with a diamond drill and 'set' the stone on the side of the shell.
I really did love making this piece though.
