Description
Title should be Re 4/4IIIt's sad that the Re 4/4II is so expensive as a model railroad locomotive (e.g. by Fleischmann) in N gauge. I love this locomotive, it's really swiss at it's best. Here, in GΓΆschenen, at the north entry of the Gotthard tunnel, there's hardly anything I can imagine that would fit better.

It's definitely a good, and still in daily use all over Switzerland and (since a few years ago) Germany and sometimes Austria. But what I like most is that this is a design and a locomotive that is really typical for Switzerland. It and locomotives similar to it defined swiss rail travel for pretty much the last fifty years or so.

I don't think they will taken out of service too soon, but with more EMUs on order and newer electric freight locomotives, they may not have a long future ahead of them.
